VIDEO first ride on 2017 SIDEKICK

Thanks Matt.. I'm always in awe of your riding abilities.

What version of the sidekick do you have?

Any pics of the install?

.

Nice vid. Thanks for sharing Matt. Was this sled still in break in mode? Do you have a clip of initial throttle from a stop or low rpm throttle response? Sounds very responsive above 5500rpm.

Just curious, when you say "VOHK Tuned" what does this mean? The kit is bolt on and go no? Put another way, what kind of tuning can VOHK even do with a sidekick?

Either way, cool vid and strong riding.

Thanks everyone for the comments and questions! I'll try to get to everything and add other photos and videos specific for each of you.

wellfed777- I'm not sure on how much boost as there is no readout. This was around 10,500 feet elevation, so I would guess 6.5-7ish..... It has the standard deep snow exhaust. The muffler is redesigned this year and nice and quite, especially for a turbo.

mountainhorse- This is the plain standard Sidekick. I'll get a pic on here of the install.

xpspenziv- This was the first ride on the sled. At the end of the day, I had about 32.5 miles. Considering the additional oil in fuel tank and being injected, I am very happy with the response. I expected it to run quite rich. I'll see if we got anything taking off from a stop. Probably the closest thing is when I'm diving a shoulder on a sharp hard downhill turn into a sidehill. Sled performed excellent through that action which I did about 15 times on the exhaust side :)

JJ 0909- There is a bit of background why I refer to it as 'VOHK tuned' and I'm glad you asked. Number 1 is giving credit where credit is due. VOHK works very closely with BD. As you can imagine, when they were initially coming up with the 'sidekick', they had to try multiple programs and make adjustments to come up with a final consumer program that was locked in so that what you buy is 'bolt on and go'. VOHK did a lot of that testing, making changes, and was very involved in the final 'tuning' or programming. VOHK does have the ability to plug into the control box and change files. I believe he has his own that includes some changes for the 2017 edition that is exclusive to him. Anyone interested can contact him about it. This also leads to my reference of 'VOHK built'. His install includes multiple tweaks, custom clutching, and other changes from other dealers and especially the 'do it yourselfer'. All of these are the result of his personal testing of just about anything you can imagine and coming up with what he determines to be the best.

Interesting. So VOHK has his own map eh? Do you know what he is altering (fueling, timing, wastegate duty, all of the above, etc) ? This is fairly noteworthy news I'd say, as it could change the function of the sled significantly compared to a "stock" Sidekick map. To be honest, i wasn't even aware anyone besides BD could build a map...

VOHK installed or "built" I understand. The dude has installed more than a few turbos so i'm sure his installs are done right and his clutching pretty good.

Either way, I felt shining more light on what kind of tuning can be made to a Sidekick is worth noting.

Also, how much AV gas you runing? Any?

I believe it's a change to the lower end of the rpms that he prefers based on his own experience and testing. I'm running 100% 91 octane with ethanol.

Thanks Matt. My turbo has a slight sputter on the bottom end off idle to 5000 rpm. I've got 32 miles on my machine as well. Extra oil in tank also.
