Utvs with Tracks?

Wondering if a UTV with 4 tracks is legal to drive on marked snowmobile trails in the black hills. We have 2 wives that would like to tag along. I'm sure the utv would have to be registered as a snowmobile

Tracked UTV's do not meet the definition of a snowmobile by SD state law and cannot be ridden on State snowmobile trails.

On Presidents Day I about had a head on collision with what I think was a local in a red Can Am Defender with tracks. He was on the marked trail 5 between 5T and 5W. Definitely not enough room on the section of that trail for the both of us, I’m lucky he didn’t take me out.
