great post! I see so many clutches come in that are miss aligned by seeing the sheaves have different belt wear and color! Plus good point on the cleaning, so many are dirty and create un needed heat and wear!

Just got my bar in the mail. After reading through this thread I need confirmation on one thing I didn't see mentioned. We are measuring the distance between the bar and the clutch with the secondary pushed all the way in towards the center of the sled? After bringing the clutch out to touch the bar with shims behind the secondary, we need 0.030" float "outwards" from center of the sled?

Thanks

If you have a lightened clutch, you must use a stock clutch for reference.

Yes, .030” float outward after getting secondary shimmed to the bar.
It is referenced in the video.

Just did mine, was out 141 thou. Had to hit the dealership for some spacers for the lock bolt/spacer to set float, was under 20 thou.
Hopefully she runs like a champ! Installed the full TRS clutch kit as well, see how she runs this weekend, I hope.

Just wondering how you liked it..

Bumping this up for the new season, and also to ask if this will work on the trail sleds?
Just picked up an 850 switchback assault and want to check the alignment on it.

The trail sled center to center is different.
You may need to trim the bar end or try it from the bottom of the primary.

Is there a spec or target distance between the far end of the alignment bar and the clutch? I am perfect on the front side (RED) and have a fairly large gap at the opposite end (Blue) (~2.5mm or 0.100") What is OKAY/Normal here? EDIT: Found the adjustment in the Manual. Don't know what to adjust to using the TRS tool. Manual says 0.030 more than the front.

You can only bring the front of the secondary out to the bar. The gap at the back is the lead in Polaris has engineered into the sled.
This can be adjusted into spec. I set mine at .020-.030”. To accomplish that you will need to machine your rear mounts.
I will be coming out with a replacement parts kit to get it adjusted.

This applicable for the 800? Assuming this for the 850. Thanks for the feedback.

Hey Tony

I attached a pic from the service manual for my 2018 axys rmk 800. It says engine alignment is adjustable.

I'm gonna try it, because I have .005" gap at the front of the driven, but .065" at the rear of the driven clutch...?

You might be able to get that pretty close.
You can manipulate the front mag holes with a dermal tool as well.
Well I spent a few hours on it. Thought it had perfect, until I realized I hadn't taken my pry bar out from behind the mag side of engine. As soon as I did, the stinking thing popped right back into position where it's been since day one.

Am I missing something here though? Any reason I can't just put a couple washers behind the mag side rear motor mount to shift that side forward? Might have to do a tad bit of Dremel work for the torx bolts underneath on the front mag side to let them slip forward a bit?
