pulled my TMX carbs today to reset the needle, pilot, and main for the new 880 .One of the slides is bad. Where to find another?

Looking all over for the part # for these carbs. Cannot find one. I have no idea what exact carbs these even are????? HELP!!! When I purchased sled i was told they were 42.5 TMXX race carbs. Obviously, as you can see I need new slides. Anyone have em or know exactly what carb this is and where I can find parts. Also.. one of the 6mm threaded fittings that hold the needle in is bad as well!!!

Would like opinion. Motor is going in this week, new top to bottom. took the 17:1 head off and have a 14:1 head installed. planning on 360 mains, needle at #3 (6fyi4-59) 42.5mm mikuni TMX carbs.. running twins..
Where do you guys think my timing should be and also am I close on carb set up in your opinion..

Looks like your carbs have been bored, I've had two sets of tmx carbs off a 440 doo and Polaris and the slides on both were chipped like that.

Guy I ride with Had to buy new slides atleast once a year for his TMXs.
Be out riding and all of a sudden 3500 rpm idle. Take it home and change slides.
They seem to work real well tho. I have been thinking of trying them on my xp.
How are they working for you besides the slide issue?
I have heard of some good hp gains on the xp by switching to the tmx.

6 of one half dozen of other...
If a guy doesnt want to get his hands dirty and doesnt like having to pay attention to elevations and temps... These carbs are not for you. Not having DPM etc. performance wise!!! You have total control of everything when it comes to fuel ! That is kinda nice

The carbs are bored 38's, the slides from ANY doo snox 600 or old 800 mods are still availible from doo.

you can order slides for an RS snoxer and be good to go..Those are my fav carbs on my doo mods AND turbos..The ones you have ,, have 2.0 needle and seat assys that are NO LONGER made by mikuni...Hang on to them man..hang on tight...

I also have a huge selction of needles, needle jets and pilots.. those carbs will hold 12 psi fuel pressure at idle,, sit on the studder button at 23 psi and not ever burp or chip a reed..too bad the big floatvalves are not made anyore.. the 1.5's in all the new ones are just too frickin small

Thanks Gus..

I will hold on to them. I am setting in a set of 40mm rack carbs for now. I took the 17:1 head as well. but am holding on to both of them.

The problem is the TMX's don't weigh anything and can potentially vibrate a lot. I put a big bore 617 rotax in a Phazer mtn sled back in the early 90's. Had the even smaller TMX 38's (didn't have the curved front on the slides just flat blade). I made a couple pieces of aluminum that racked the carbs together using the existing bolt holes for covers on the top of the carbs and then another one on the bottom.

Figure a way to rack the two carbs together as one unit and it will cut down
the vibration a bunch and eliminate any possible fuel frothing that has a potential
to screw up the jetting.

Good Luck

Gus,
When did they quit making the 2.0s? I'm looking to buy a set.
just wondered how far back I would need to look to find a set with the bigger needle/seat.

2005. when the last 800 mod rolled out of valcourt.

I have used the mikuni rs type needle seat with success but it is not a drilled slotted high flow like the original..

the 800 carbs also have 2 machined slots in the carb adjacent to the seat that allow fuel to flow out and around the needle..really well thought out..

vibration with these tmx carbs is non existent..the tmx You used was not the heavier radial slide like these oem tmx carbs. These weight 2 times what your aftermarket version did and have metal slides not nitrophyl slides.

the floats , fuel chambers and needle jets are totally different..

Kawasaki used these same oem tmx 38's on the kx 125's for a few yrs .. They might have had 2.0's in them....????

Gus, of the one's I've seen online the 99-02 KX125's seemed to use the 36mm TMX. Did other years or the KX250 use the 38mm?

Also, how do they compare to the Keihin PWM & PWK with similar shaped slides. I've read on the moto sites guys really like the PWK Stryker.

same slides and body 36/38 turbo800

As for the keihin, the fixed neeldejet ended that carbs career.. the stryker version I have never worked with. If it has a changeable needle jet it might be a contender..

CR 250

Gus ,, these carbs were also oem on the CR 250r mid to late 90's , were they not?

I am putting on a set of rack 40's and starting out with a 390 main with stock 07 R needle.. hopefully testing and tuning next week.. Going on a trygstad 880 .. put new crank and top end in it.
