team tied vs. team tss 04

so i have not seen the large switch from the standard team clutch to the team tied. any opinions on this? i theory it seems it has the potential to be a superior secondary, especially for combating belt/clutch heat. but i just haven't heard the great things about it i expected, or much of anything about it. my only thought was it ends up sacrificing performance in some way. if it was better you would think the new pro would be running them? no?

so for those using one what's your opinion? and to avoid the, "i spend X amount of dollars on this product, so it is the best thing since sliced bread" issue anyone do actual testing between the two?

Well, I don't know enough about the Tied other than what it's supposed to do in theory. I was bummed that my new Pro RMK didn't come with one though. SLP told me that Team isn't making the TS-004 anymore. I guess sooner or later we will all have to go to the Tied.

Team will make the TSS-04 as long as Polaris is putting in orders for 1000's of them.

Some people are having issues with heat etc on these... some of them well respected in the field...I suspect some of this is that it requires you to completley look at the secondary in a differnt way... what you knew on rotating shieves does no translate to this new design... I'm confident that this new clutch is a better design...IMO

I have had alot of miles on a tied last year... 1 it does pull alot harder then the tss-04 because of stepper angles... 2 it let the sled run out better on the big end mean more top speed which i could care less about because i ride the mountains not the lakes or flat land... 3 it does run alot cooler meaning you can make pull after pull after pull and take the slide pannel off and grab the belt and its just warm not even close to hot... 4 you use alot less sec spring so backshift are a dream... it just works but is worth the money? only if you have extra and you want the best of the best imo... If your goin the change and you already have a great combo on the tss-04 call or e-mail justin at tech.. @ team and he will convert your current set-up to a tied.... and you can still blow belts i had 1079 miles on one belt before she went... I ride a race gas turbo 800 assault... I didn't change belts around like i normally do just because I wanted to see just how far it would go with the tied sec... So really it didn't do to bad imo.... I hope that helps and i will answer any other questions you might have to... and one more thing.. like for like meaning tss-04 to tied same covertion the tied is hands down faster meaning sled lengths and yes i will have a tied on my 2011 assault....

thanks for the info. i'm just surprised i/we haven't heard more about them. i figured after a year on the snow people would have them dialed in. guess i'm also surprised (a little) poo didn't switch to them if they are significantly better. i'd like to test one but it is pretty expensive to just try it. once my pro is setup and dialed in with the 04 then i might pick up a tied. i'm thinking the pro should pretty much use the same clutching as my dragon. we'll see...

MH, any specifics on the issues people have been having? why there is a heat issue, what is being done, ect?

If you look at the TSS098/TSS04......they have been out for 15 years and it is only the last 3-4 years that factory setups are providing a significant advantage in performance. The origional snocross setup, which polaris hasn't changed in 17 years...66-44.46.....doesn't work for most applications. More spring pressure to prevent belt slippage was the absolute wrong way to go.....now the 2020 600 xc uses a 46-42.36.....with more weight, more clamping force with moderate spring pressure. The 56-42.36.....now used for the 800 trail sleds.....an excellent helix for many applications. Adding 18 degrees for the tied applications off the latest tss04 setups should be a good starting point.
