Superclamps, too expensive??

I know they're nice but c'mon almost $700. for the front and back for two sleds. I've got the old screw downs for my clamshell trailer and they work pretty good but they can be a bit of a PITA. Also I put a ratchet strap over the suspension rails of both sleds just in case I hit a big bump, also the rear superclamps would be a bit more handy but man that price seems awfully steep to me. I'd expect about half that would be resonable...2 fronts for $190. and 2 rears for $140. but that's each!! Anyone else think they're way out there?
 
My roomate has a set for his sled deck (just for the fronts/skis) they are extremely nice and easy to use. I have the regular threaded bolt and bar for my trailer and I don't mind it (just gotta keep em' lubed up). But I would love to have a set of superclamps for my trailer after using them on deck. Well made and defiantly know your sled is going to stay down. I think strapping down the back is pointless. I have done it in the past but after a while quit doing it and have hit huge bumps and watched the backs of the sleds fly 4-6 inches off the trailer or deck and theres no harm done to anything, thats what suspensions for. I'd say just buy a couple sets of the ski/front clamps and save the money on the back ones.
 
You can always find used sets for alot cheaper. I find it funny how vented up people get about costs on goods. You think venting is going to make the prices drop?? Not trying to stir the pot, but if something is too expensive find what works for you. I'm like you, I like the strap across the rails better then the rear clamps. find a couple of used front clamps and your into the set for 2-300 bucks with your straps and your a happy camper. Personally I hate the clamps. Had them a couple times and they bang around in my trailer and hate adjusting them for every skii that comes in my enclosed. I went with a etrac setup for a fraction of the price and very happy with it.

Front and rear are worth every penny! 2 sleds = $20,000+, $700 to ensure they stay on the trailer is money well spent. They are virtually locked onto the trailer with both clamps in all conditions, not just flat straight roads. In many states (maybe in Canada too) loads over 10' legally require more than 1 tie down...ask any trucker what an improperly strapped load fine is.
 
Superclamps are definitely worth the money.... I only have the front sets, as we usually don't bother to tie the backs down for local trips, but for long trips we just use straps for securing the backs and your good to go. Drive your rig like you have a load on and your fine.
 
$190 each, don't know where u shop, i got two shipped for $320, fronts of course, use tie downs for the rears, just as good.

Those neat little front bars do nothing in a crash condition or black ice roll over. Having the sleds tied down in the rear can help significantly should you get into a frontal accident or a jack knife situation going 75.

Over the last 25 years going out west each year, I have seen multiple roll overs, because of black ice, or trucks/trailers stacked up in the median. The ones that do the best ALL have ratchet straps keeping the rear of the sled from coming forward or twisting

I already live out west and usually don't haul our sleds more than 200 miles, usually more like 10-40 miles and we usually aren't driving 75mph in winter conditions. I'm guessing most the people you see are Midwesters in a rush to get out west and not driving in a safe manner for the road conditions. I have no doubt that if your going to be driving across country for a trip then sure strap the back down if it makes you feel better. Oh and If I'm rolling my truck and trailer I've got bigger concerns than my sled.
 
I feel SuperClamps are one of the best investments you can make for hauling your sleds. Yeah they're expensive, but its a one time only investment that sure makes your life much simpler. I know what the molds cost to make those things and it isn't cheap!

I think the Superclamps are nice, but agree that they are expensive. For the guys justifying $700, it's not like those of us that can't justify that money are using nothing and just letting our sleds sit there. There are much cheaper alternatives that work just as well. Sure they are a little slower but instead of 10 seconds to put on they take 40 seconds.

It does not take rolling your truck to lose your sleds.

Black ice getting your trailer sideways, then the whip-saw as you come out of the black ice, is often enough to exert enough force to rip those sleds off the trailer....

Those mid-westerners have over 1300 miles one way to get out west in many instances. you can go for 900 miles on completely dry road, then one icy bridgedeck sneaks up on you at 4:30 in the morning when you are not thinking as clearly as you should be, and in an instant your sideways.

No unsafe driving here.................. Stuff happens once and awhile.......

Yea, and It does make me feel better........
 
But regular screw down clamps work just as good.

I have them on my deck and I will say IMO that they are the simplest clamps Ive ever used.
Good products do coast a bit more, but worth every penny.
 
I have them on my sled deck only. They are definitely nice, but I could only justify the price (and I paid wholesale!) because of the inconvenience of using a standard screw down up on the deck. On all my trailers I use the standard screw down and ratchet straps.

I really think superclamps would make a much bigger profit if they found a way to lower their price by 30-50%. They would sell 4-5 times more and their overall cost would go down and the profits would go up. Quantity and lower margins always make more profits over higher margins and less sales.

I bought my 2 place ride on ride off for a 1000.00 it came with two super clamps front and super glides . Look around and find the deals...........And you can hang a master lock on the super clamps..........

See I totally agree with this. I'm sure SC's are a good product but it seems they are overpriced by about a factor of 2. The single price should be for a pair. And Zoom, you don't count, you have too much money.:face-icon-small-win
 
Yup, they're a sponsor...a great sponsor, one reason why...they make a product I believe in. A product I trust, even if they weren't a sponsor, you would see them on my deck and in my trailer. Once you own SuperClamps you will agree! I know what the molds cost to make these things, you could buy a nice house for what one mold costs and the market is only so big. I do agree they are expensive.....seen diesel lately.....aaaaargh!!
