operating RPM's of most 2 stroke snow motors are higher than watercraft/boat motors, port timing and setup are totally diffrent. It would be a struggle for any decent reliable sled motor to get a boat up on plane.
Harbour craft in their j-max line uses a version of the apex motor at 160 hp, no turbo or supercharger yet. Been talking with harborcraft about it though.
I dont understand how port timing would have anything to do with making it work. As far as RPM the RX1 motor spun 13,000? didnt it and was reduced? I was thinking more of four strokers but even a big 1200-1400 triple two stroker should work? The optimax 200 used as a sportjet is 2500cc V6 sounds like a 6 bees in a beer can with a rock being shook!!
A year or two ago when Turbo Al must of been exceptionally bored in the middle of summer he put together I'm thinking a 12 foot aluminum boat with a 800 doo plus complete drive train (rear suspension and track) hanging out the back doing the propulsion. Somebody posted video and it was ridden stand up like a jet ski and was very fast!!!
Good Luck

I'm thinking like mattymac - mount the engine sideways and slap a prop on the jackshaft and that would be killer. Lots of wasted energy in track vs prop but still would be pretty cool to be passing guys on the lake with your "track boat". LOL
Here is another way to utilize a snow engine on water. Am thinking it might get a little exciting at times.
Go-Devil approach !!!!
