I heard both sides of this but wondering if you have to run a resistor on the 08-09 m1000 if you remove your hood, and can it effect a bd box as well.

I have a 07 with bd box, and run hoodless whenever possible. you will be very impressed with how well your sled will climb without its hood on. On my 1000 being hoodless often gives me another sled length while highmarking. no bull

Absolutely 100% not a problem on an 07 and up... No resister or extra draw needed.
2nd year on my 08 m1000, hundreds of miles with no hood, no issues what so ever.
Yank the hood, put a snorkel over the air horn and let er rip!
Like said, they run better and cooler, cooler clutches, lighter front end.

2007 and newer don't. Have an 07 m8 turbo with a mesh hood. No problems.. On the 2006 m7's you had to run that.

Ditto here, 3000 miles on my 07's with no lights, My 09 same deal. I don't run any other items to soak up the voltage, the ccu has a resistor in it now. It was a problem, it's not anymore.

My guess is that SLP made their guidelines for the hood before the 07 came out & they just never changed them. Or they were too lazy to test it for themselves so they said that to be safe.
