Scientists from the Snow and Avalanche Lab at Montana State University are seeking more participants for their project examining decision making and travel in avalanche terrain.

Their project aims to collect GPS location information (from your smartphone or GPS) and survey responses from backcountry riders to better understand what types of terrain are used, and how decisions are made. Their focus is on backcountry riders of all abilities and experience. You need not be an expert backcountry rider to participate in this research.

More information: If you want to participate, or learn more about their project aims, research questions and approaches, please visit their web page: www.montana.edu/snowscience/sleds

A few quick FAQs:
- We will never share your data with anyone else - all we do is extract terrain metrics, and combine these with your survey responses.
- We will not share your email address with anyone outside of the immediate research group. We will only use your email address to link you track information with your survey responses. We will also use your email address to contact you, should you win one of our spot prizes. Good luck!
- If you are headed out with a group and a few of you are tracking - please let us know that you were in the same group. This helps with our analysis.
