Powder Special smoking heavy on Warmup

We have an older 98 powder special 600 EFI that we keep around for taking the kids on trail rides. I've noticed that the exhaust smokes HEAVILY when its warming up, but settles down once warm. None of my newer sleds have ever done this. Any ideas? It still runs well, the plugs stay nice and clean, and the injection oil consumption seems normal.

Those had a little less timing advance at idle than the new sleds, which may cause more smoke when cold. The older sleds all seem to smoke more at cold start up. If it is real excessive the oil pump may be letting some oil seep through when it is sitting. No big deal unless it starts to fill the case with oil...I have seen some fill the case over the summer storage.

Oil slowly leaking through the pump....I think you probably hit the problem right on the head. It only seems to do it after its been sitting for a few days. Will check it out, thanks!

My 98 Carb smoked with the pump, without the pump and with the 720 big bore. And yes i know what you mean about the smokeless new sleds but i dont mind the smoke its only like that for about 5-15mins depend on how cold it is then it clears up all day and its like that everyday.
