Lets see, if we took all the rich peoples money away, that would fund the worthless leaches of this country for about 4 to 5 years...THEN WHAT???

Minimum wage...lets make a 20$/hr. min. wage. Then people are gonna cry because a McDonalds cheeseburger costs 12$

They think they're gonna start a revolution but its gonna be an uphill battle fighting the government and half the country too!!!

This country isn't perfect, However look around the world and always remember, if you don't like it here and can find your perfect place somewhere else, REMEMBER, YOU ARE ALWAYS FREE TO LEAVE!!!!!!!!!

A couple articles...if people knew the how and who started this movement, I don't think many would support it.

http://www.americanthinker.com/2011/10/ows_easy_prey.html

http://www.americanthinker.com/2011/10/ows_and_the_progressive_fantasy.html

We hate the world and those people who do well within it, and will have none of it. Stick with us, and we will somehow figure out how to make it perfect. We don't have any specifics at this time, but put your trust in us and all will be grand. We will tear down everything and everyone that is doing well, and when the dust settles, we are convinced that something better will pop up.

in such an article, when he's using words like hippies, and sentences such as, "Sounds like Progressive philosophy to me." it makes it seem more like a blog. his own thoughts. his own words. mercer tyson? who is he? is he credible? this guy is pretty much saying the exact same stuff as the media does when it covers the movement. deeming them as undesirables, hippies, and worthless people.

and its easy for people to believe another person. very easy. anyone can tell you anything: "They are driven by the basest of motives, greed and hatred: "Pay my bills" and "Eat the rich." " how does he know that? where is he getting HIS information from? the news that he watches? or is he actually down there interviewing people? does he tell you where he gets his info, or assumptions from?

i do say, there may be some crazies down there, as you dont have to go to the O.W.S. movement to find them. and anyone that expects someone else to pay their bills isnt thinking right. i guarantee that isnt the motive behind the movement. at all. but to the majority of the people who watch the news, (corporate media), thats all they see. its called censorship. theyre censoring the people. telling you what they want you want you to see and understand. the movement doesnt just consist of jobless hippies. its full of people who once had a job, dont have jobs. most have tried to get jobs. the movement is even full of people who have jobs. they're just as fed up, and woken up as well.

we're trillions and trillions of dollars in debt because of the government. but they dont eat that debt at all. they do the rediculous spending, and pass the debt down to the american people. money isnt missing. money doesnt disappear. its in the hands of some very powerful people. because they have that power. they dont get into trouble for anything. they run the world.

What do you know about the Federal Reserve? What do you know about the people running it? what do you know about who controls them, or governs them? if you know about it, where did you learn about it? the news? or the internet? has the news talked about it at all? or have they just mentioned the name?

then you have this from the article:

"Sara Robinson, senior fellow at the progressive Campaign for America's Future, delivers a spot-on descriptive quote in an article from The New Republic. In this article Robinson is attempting to put forth why the progressive message is not heard and understood as well as the conservative message. In doing so she leaks a key tenet of the Progressive philosophy:

Talking about policies and programs doesn't do it: progressives (have) always been at our best when we speak from a place of strong moral authority, rooted deeply in a daring vision of the kind of world we'd like to create. If we can't envision that world clearly in our own minds, we certainly can't describe it with conviction to other people. [Italics added.]

She is absolutely correct. Her statement is the perfect analysis of progressive politics. Recapping Robinson's statement in different words, she paints progressives as:

1. Coming from a place of self-designated moral supremacy;

2. Having a utopian, audacious, and reckless vision of the world they want to create but are unable to describe; and
3. Lacking a roadmap of how to get there."

"If we can't envision that world clearly in our own minds, we certainly can't describe it with conviction to other people."

isnt that how the government itself works and thinks?

the government definitely has a reckless vision on the world they want to create, and are definitely unable to describe it to us. we the people have a false understanding of their views because of the media. they tell us what they want us to think. therefore, the sheep follow the master.

the government definitely lacks a roadmap of how to get where they want to get, because we clearly see, that they say one thing, but do another. or give these promises, and break them. why? did they grab the wrong map before venturing off into the unknown? did they forget to take any sort of map at all??

Absolutly...it's just a conservative writers opinion on what is happening.
No doubt there are a variety of people showing up at these protests (if you can call them that) with diverse backgrounds, jobs and political beliefs. But....if you look at the original OWS organizers, financial backers and the people that are living in parks for months at a time. These are the ONLY views, beliefs and opinions that (IMO) really matter in this movement and the writer has pretty much nailed it....hippies with no job. If they had a job they couldn't live in a park for months...this IS their job. Yet they call themselves the 99%...well, they don't represent me or anyone I know.
I can go down there and hold a sign saying anything I want, but it doesn't change the ideals or messages being pushed by the main organizers.
The movement was started by and is backed by marxist/communist and progressive groups. Money trails leading back to Soros as well (big surprise :face-icon-small-dis).
It's a small group of extremists attempting to gather the backing of a majority by appealing to a growing number of people who have this entitlement mentality. Just look at other parts of the world to see how this system has worked....it doesn't. It creates even more massive debt and chaos.

the only opinion and fact in this movement that matters is the fact that corporate greed has put the 99% in that position. if you ignore all the homeless bums. look at everything else. you are still in the 99%. 30k a year still puts you in the 99%. 100k a year still puts you in the 99%. you still have to pay rediculous insurance, and rediculous pointless taxes. income tax is the worst kind of tax. you are still governed more than you would like to be governed.

the movement is representing you. its representing me. idk how much money you make, and i dont care. id imagine a comfortable amount since you are able to enjoy your passion.

i make plenty of money for my own life, yet im still upset at whats being done. i know whats up, and i know, for my own reasons, and my own solid proof, and facts of whats really being done, and i half support the movement and im half against it.

i guess im just lucky enough, or maybe even lucky enough to understand and know what the real deal is.

That's the thing...this group wants MORE government involvement in everything we do. They want handouts for everyone....open borders....$20 minimum wage (whether you work or not LOL).
The only way to do this is to tax EVERYONE even more. It doesn't work. On one hand they protest handouts (bailouts) to business (businesses are made up of people) but they also ask for handouts (bailouts) to people who do nothing.
They have these ideas of "how the world should be" but no rational means of achieving it. They leave the details for someone else to worry about.
No one likes to pay taxes, but the reality is those that get the most back out of the system typically pay in the least. And those are the people at these rallies wanting more and saying the system isn't fair ??:face-icon-small-dis.
Yes, the system does need to be fixed...but not replaced....the US is still the envy of the world in most respects and the biggest problem (IMO) is lack of work ethic/entitlement mentality and the OWS group reinforces that.
I think prosperity should be earned....OWS believes it should be given to all for nothing.

Just another article....http://www.foxnews.com/us/2011/10/26/exclusive-acorn-playing-behind-scenes-role-in-occupy-movement/

just another example of what the media portrays. id like to know how many people in the movement want the 20 minimum wage and all that junk and how many people are behind the views that i see.

again, corporate media only covers the side of the story that shows the stupid hippies and their views and their wants. do they talk about the other side? or any of the other many views or motives behind the movement?

i could easily take a video camera, go pick out a group of hippies, and gross people and interview JUST them and put it on the news while ignoring the group of protestors that visually look like pretty standup people to the left of me...

fox news use to be pretty solid news. they have turned into a huge biased news station on MANY stories. just like any other news station. i have stopped watching them as loyally as i use to.

Very good points. I think the bottom line is, if you choose to attend one of these gatherings, the FIRST thing a person needs to do is ask themselves.." DO I SUPPORT THIS MOVEMENT?". Because just being there IS a show of support.
I can't go to a OWS protest and hold up a sign saying "tax the poor" or "less wilderness" and expect anyone to believe that this is what OWS stands for.
The official OWS website, the organizers is all I go by. And this is the direction THEY want to go....complete, 100% socialist government, open borders, $20 minimum wage (even without a job) etc....
IMO, if a person attends a OWS event, or in any way supports OWS, then this is what that person stands for.

The hard part for me is trying to wrap my head around the madness. Never in my life have stuck my hand out and asked for another to cover my expenses. I made the bed that I lie in and I will pay for it. I wish that I could say that financially I have done everything right but I havent. I work as a mortgage loan officer and the past year has been lean. To make ends meet my wife and I have created a cleaning company and have a few contrracts that help make up the difference that we need to sustain life. I also plow snow in the winter to make the extra that I need for the fun things in life. I pay my taxes and i pay a generous tithe to my church to help those in need. I am not saying this to declare that I am special. I am simply stating that If I cannot make my financial obligations then I liquidate my life and live within my means. I will not come to you and demand that you share you good fortune with me because you are doing better than me. One thing I have learned in the past 12 years as a loan officer. You can blame Wall Street and the big banks. AMERICAN GREED !!!! is solely responsible for the economy at this time. It starts with the consumer and goes all the way to the top. I still meet with clients that I have to explain to them that theu cannot afford the home that they are looking at. Their responce is " what do I have to do to get this house" Not " okay we will lower our expectations and live within our means" Greed is what caused the people of this country rich and poor to turn their homes into ATM machines. When you sign a promisorry note you promise to pay back the money. No where does it say that you dont have to pay if the value drops, or the bank made a large quarterly profit. You promised to pay. I would love to know how many homes have been forclosed on by people who could afford the payments. They cant afford the home because the 785.00 truck payment. I got to decline a loan yesterday a young couple had 160,000.00 in student loan debt. and no he was not DDS. Worked for the state making 50,000.00 a year. HOUSTON WE HAVE A PROBLEM. He was furious that he couldnt get a home. He deserved it. I was supposed to voer look the student loans that the inquiries on his credit report from 6 different credit cards. A future Forclosure .. Greed people .... Greed. that is all what this is about ... Rant over

Couldn't have said it better myself...Here's a noble idea, if you really want to get back at these big corporations, let go of the iphones, computers, cable tv, internet, and live life not so dependant on money!!! Live within your means is a valuable statement, however who actually realizes what their "means" are. I work for a lot of very rich people in the yellowston club of Big Sky Montana...I have met several homeowners of 12,000sq/ft+ VACATION HOMES!!!! The one thing they all have in common, I RARELY SEE ANY OF THEM SMILE!!! So for the ows people, carefull what you wish for...If you need money to make your life complete, maybe you need to reevaluate your values!!!!!

Good points...

I listen to the Dave Ramsey show podcasts at work. It is amazing how much debt some people are in.. not including their homes..

It is also amazing how when people want to, they can live well below their means and save save save, and pay off the debt.

I started listening / reading the book "The millionaire next door". It points out the error of what we use to determine "rich" and that most times people that look rich are not, they just have a big income and a large debt to go with it.

Interesting stuff.

In that Book It amazed me when I read that most of the countrys millionaires are working class people who had blue collar jobs, small business that they started, invested well and "CREATED" a net worth of a million. Less than 5% of the countries millionaires came from Money and inheritance. It's amazing how fast money accumulates when we live without certain "extras" in life. My wife and I turned off the cable in our home in April. Extra 65.00 a month right there. What did I find... I could survive with out sportscenter every morning. At 11:30 am I can think of 25 different places to go get lunch that cost 8 to 12 bucks. If I run home and eat leftovers at 1:30pm my body does not care what I ate. Just that i am no longer hungry. The snowball gets rolling and all of the sudden there is an extra couple hundred bucks every month. It gets a little contagious when you start cutting and saving. Now dont get me wrong the cable is back on ( college football) we all have our crosseas to bear :). Just teach your kids the value of money and time. It cracks me up when my Kids want something and I tell them okay.. go get your money that you earned and I will take you to the store. All the sudden that 30.00 video game is not all that important if Dad isnt footing the bill. Is that any different than the OWS.... As long as they are not paying for it and it benefits them who really cares..

This isn't asking for handouts, it has more to do with how laws are written to protect the super wealthy. 3% control 99% of the money in the world. What's wrong with that? If you make $500,000 a year you don't fit into that 1%. I'd be surprised if making anything less than $30,000,000 a year would put you in that group. Six figures is peanuts.

People are pissed that with the financial collapse, no one went to jail, prison or anything for it. Very rich people broke laws and nothing was done. People are pissed about white collar criminals effing the rest of us and getting away with it.

I think the OWS group is polarizing and extreme. What they are pissed about is very valid and everyone of us should be mad. The problem is that they attract an extreme group of people and many people want nothing to do with that group. This group is the group that will protest for anything and are seeking the handouts.

and that extreme group is the only group that mainstream media seems to cover, which purposely gives the public a false understanding as to what the movement is about, and whats really going on. mainstream media is ran by wallstreet, and other elite people and corporations. which is why they can cover certain things, and why they cant. people dont know whats going on with the movement, along with many other things in this world because of censorship. but its like they dont know what censorship is, and they dont know that censorship of the people is very real.

and go on youtube and look at all the random arrests that are made for no reason upon judgement,no legal reason.. look at all the cops punching innocent people in the face. look at them starting to corral innocent people into baracades and mace them. the whole system is screwed, but its screwed on purpose. everything thats going wrong with the country and the people governing it is all part of a system, preparing for the new world order. and if anyone denies it, you are highly unaware, or uneducated.
