Not Cool Ski Doo

Just picked up my 2021 Ski Do Expert Turbo 165 today. The whole team at Mile High Sports in McCall, ID, warned me that if I touched any part of the exhaust system, Ski Doo would immediately void my warranty. I told them I planned to keep it stock but needed to remove the pipe to install a BMFab front bumper. They said that would void the warranty. They did not like it either but said that was the message from Ski Doo. Even got the owner involved and he said that Ski Doo is getting bad and is super strict about the paint markings on the exhaust. I can't believe it.

your dealer is lying to you, My dealer said they don`t care if you put on a aftermarket can and would warranty was no problem. you need a different dealer

Ive read this on here too and i dont believe it.. my sled hasnt shown up yet? But as soon as i pick it up in taking the pipe off to but a skidplate on (skidoo accessory) and an aftermarket front bumper.

The can has to come off for so many things, such as gearing change or secondary clutch changes, front bumper swap, etc. I don't believe for a second that removing the can for maintenance is going to void the warranty. Adding an aftermarket can on even a NA machine technically voids your warranty

They are full of **** Check with a better dealer!!! any another dealer. As many have said there is many reasons you have to remove the exhaust can, They just want more of your cash, I'll bet they would install the bumper for ya $$.

If I were you I would do all your warrantee/service anywhere else than there.

This Thread Should Say NOT COOL "MILE HIGH SPORTS" not Ski Doo

I partially agree with you here. My concern is that my dealer stated that Ski Doo is requiring pictures of the paint seals for any warranty work and were told by their Ski Doo Rep that any tampering with the seals will result in Ski Doo denying the claim, not my dealer.

I asked them to install my front bumper and they refused.

You don’t have to remove the muffler tension the chain or change the oil, done both. I’ve had the muffler off mine and could find no identification makes on anything that would show it’s been off and on.

That’s nonsense! BRP/ ski-doo sells bumpers that require the pipe be removed. My understanding is any tampering with the ECU, turbo and the waist gate control is the real issue. What if you have a wreck and need a new pipe etc.

Ski-doo ambassadors have even show videos of accessories that they install on the Turbo. Bumpers, skid plates and etc. maybe Dave Norona can chime in on this.

I was told the same thing when I picked mine up. I called a week later to ask again. The service guy said he would call Ski doo to verify.Called me back an hour later and said, yes, warranty will be voided if a can was added and they would be able to tell from bolt markings and computer readings.

Supposing they are right, an authorized dealer must be allowed to remove and reinstall anything without voiding the warranty. So either all dealers has gotten their own "magic marker" to make new paint marks after any job requiring removal of exhaust system components or the photo demand is just a rumor.

Either way, I wouldn't be surprised if Doo has strict warranty monitoring and assessment regarding these turbo sleds. I'm amazed they even released them to the public seeing how many lunatics there are out there =)

Why would anyone think that Ski Doo would say that it`s alright to change the can or do anything to your sled with aftermarket parts, of course they are going to say that you can not.
they have said that about every sled.

Sure it might be a dealers interpretation and some may be more relaxed than others. However, these are just landing and no/limited warranty claims have gone in yet, so it’s all anecdotal and not much true experience on how the warranty claims will be adjudicated in the long run.. Ask to see the clarifying bulletin from Ski-Doo (which my dealer quoted and had available) and draw your own conclusion...
