Newbe Nytro Owner Has Questions

Well I made the jump into the 4 stroke world and bought a 08 Nytro MTX. I went for a ride with my son on Sunday and I have a couple of questions. First, what is with it with the clutches??? I see from other posts these have an issue with noisy primary clutches. Does anybody have a suggestion on a good shop that could set me up with shims or whatever it takes to quite it down. Second, It steered pretty hard, is that normal. It has around 960 miles and also has Simmons Gen2's. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. I think I am going to really love this sled!!!!

The clutches just rattle, when mine was under warranty they did some work with the primary but after a few hundred km it started up again. No big deal just annoying from what I am told.

Gen 2's are the worst ski IMO. If you want better steering and easier turning put the stockers back on and after 2 rides you will have those gen 2's for sale. They work ok in neck deep pow but otherwise I hated them.

the pins on the rollers are too long they need to be shortened a bit if you grab the roller pin/bolt there will be alot of play in it i shortened them up and its super quiet

i tried this on mine and it didnt work noise is still there the noise is coming from the spider. the rattling noise is due to the harmonics of the 3 cylinder engine it is normal and nothing to worry about. if you were to take your clutch off and put it on a 4 cylinder apex it will be perfectly quiet.

as for the hard steering....ditch the gen 2's for sure they are super hard to turn on the nytro.

Thanks for the input guys, lucky for me I have the stock skis. As for the clutch it sounds like Yamaha needs to do some work, it should not sound like that. Stu

If that rattle is really killing you, install small o-rings on the roller bolts. They don't last long if you pull them apart a lot, but they will quiet it down.

If you boondock in deep powder, DO NOT get rid of those Gen II skis.
Trust me, try them first. Ride back to back days in pow with stockers and then the GII's.

Cheers,

LG
