Hello!
I am new on this forum.
Not new to sledding, though I still feel like a newbie very often.
I ride in Sweden where I have a cabin/house especially for the winters and sledding, because I live in the Netherlands and there is no real snow in the Netherlands.
In 2011 I went on my first snowmobile trip, during a winter holiday in Canada. It was a 5 hour ride around in circles kinda thing, but I was hooked and wanted to do more of it.
Next time I went on a 5 day trip in Finland and Sweden. There I met another young woman from the Netherlands and we kept in touch. And went on the next few sledding holidays together. First it was more days, but that got boring and expensive. So we looked for something else and that's when we discovered back country and deep snow riding.
We went on a few of those trips, nearly yearly.
Until 2020, when I bought the house and my friend started her winter job as a snowmobile guide. Since then we haven't ridden together anymore, but we do want to.
And because I am now (since 2020) out riding without a guide, and less intense riding, and different surroundings (more trail), my ability (and confidence) in deep snow riding went down quite a bit. I now mostly ride trails. But I still say I am mostly a back country rider and I do love it.
So sledding since 2011, but often feeling like a newbie...
