Need help with design of Apex Seat

Here at WRP we are considering developing a seat for the APEX. Since none of us here ride that sled we need some help with the design. I really need to understand what you guys would like different in the seat. I need help with the following:

1. Height- Taller Shorter?
2. Width- ???
3. density-Harder softer?
4. The Apex has pretty good seat storage. Would it hurt if we lost the seat storage to make the seat more slim and lighter?
5. Do we stick with the old school sofa like seat or go with a newer Freestyle design?

Attached are two pics. One of the WRP FreeStyle Edge Seat and one of an Apex with a WRP Plus II Seat foam propped up for demonstration purposes.

Tell me what you think Apex owners.

Thanks

Marc

when i was looking for a seat for my apex, i liked the boss design for the slanted back because that was good clearance for your feet while switching sides, so i'd say consider that into your design and i would like the front of the seat to be somewhat scuplted narrower to allow more side to side movement for boondocking. didn;t go with boss cause it was impossible to get ahold of them, currently have a mtn mod seat that i do like but there could be a seat thats more boondocker friendly with features like i mentioned. thats my 2 cents, the apex pic you have posted i;d say that is way to high, looks hard to get over or around if your shorter.

I would be more interested in a true flat top design (no bump) and something with good storage and maintained somewhat of a factory apperance...

Lightweight and same as factory seat looks. The stocker is a brick be nice to get somethign around 5-6lbs and keep storage and stock exhaust. I must have the storage and even more would be great as space is limited on mine. Lastly price around $400 or less, $500-750 is out of range for the benefit.

Make a wide top flat tunnell seat. Boss won't make any apex seats anymore let alone one for a flat tunnel sled. Mountain mod wants close to 800 for a seat shipped to the mid west USA, and for that kind of money I'll go with a stock seat and a braket. The seat would need to be as firm as the stock mtn seat for me to want one. A no skid top. more storage or optional storage. Price it at 400 plus shipping, and I'll take on today. Maxdlx

How about sorta like the one on the cat in the picture, except come out with pack that snaps, hangs or zips in underneath. Something you can pull out then open it up on the tunnel.

So if i do one like i did on the M series Cat, what will you do with all of that exaust parafanilia on the back? I am assuming that everyones exhaust would be different than stock exhaust. Making a seat to accomodate everyones exhaust could be a huge challenge. And yes we could put a bag under the seat.

Well since Boss have lost the plot I would say make one the same as the flat under tunnel pipe version.

Great IDea

I vote to go for the M style seat, narrow, light and easy to manuvure around with the bag under it! Excellent idea, sign me up for one now..... and 95% of the Apex guys have a front mount turbo or under tunnel exhaust...if they don't then they can adapt something to work with this style.....this would be the market share for the Apex. More sold with under tunnel or front mount then without. How long before they'll be ready?

I am also lookimg for a seat, I run MCX rear turbo, so there for will need to keep the shape at the back for the turbo. I would like flat top and same width as the tunel. When ever you built one send us pics, realy want one.

I am also running an MCX which uses about the same style exhaust as stock. I am in the process of making my own seat but it would be great if you could save me some headaches!! A flat top seat would be awesome.
