Didn't want to start a new thread on this since the answer is probably on here somewhere, I just can't find it. (been around for years and never had to ask as all the info is here)
Anyway, just got the primary on my 900 rebuilt as the old one was worn and started to stick. Took the sled out yesterday and ran it for 18 miles, was told by the shop it should vibrate less with new clutch. About halfway in I noticed I couldn't get above 40mph (before rebuild could run 80-90) or above 6500 RPM.
Turned around to go back to parking lot, on the way back vibrations got real bad so took it easy.
Once back to the car I found a bunch of metal shavings/swath on the shaft inside the spring (will try to attach a pic) and a white ash like powder on the clutch. Also clutch was red hot, luckily I spit on it before touching it. Once cooled it looks like the shavings are melted to the shaft almost like a lathe machining something.
Clutch is also making a "Clacking" sound which is hard to hear when riding, but you can hear when stationary.
Also noticed on further inspection that the torque mount is about 1cm away from the engine? I thought they were supposed to be almost touching?
Any advice would be awesome I don't really know a whole lot about clutch setup and am worried this shop just blew up my clutch/crank
