Got everything in a box ready to do this.

Anybody do the cutting without removing the gas tank?

I got the chain case side in tonight...what a work! I went to put in the M6 screws, everything lined up perfectly. I couldn't get a single one started, I took a closer look and noticed none of the holes were tapped, how frustrating, I would hate to have to pull it out again. I could run a bolt and nut through 4 of them but 2 have to go directly in the case. I'm going to see if I can find a tap...grr! I assume no one else ran into this?

What did you guys end up doing with the brake guard? Did you have to do any cutting or just drill new bolt holes?

This is what my 2014 looks like after doing a 2017 chassis swap. Bottom hole is 1/2 moon slot and just catches the bolt. New hole up top and a new dent to clear the brake pad pin.

There was some cutting on mine too, but i think it was mostly due to the running boards

I decided to start tearing into things since I've been sitting on this stuff for 6 months.

I can't get the 8t drivers out of my sled that I put in last year. Looks like you need to remove the jackshaft

1)how do you do that and
2) is there a way to pull the chaincase back plate out so that I can get the drivers out?

Doesn't look like it.

I put so much soapy water in there last night, my first ride of the season is going to be on a sea of bubbles. :face-icon-small-ton

Still can't get it. Just can't get the nubs out of the windows to slide it over.

Haha....what did you hit, the gear side of the drive shaft?

You pull a 7t or 8t out of there?

Pulling my 7t out was 'difficult'. This one looks 'not feasible'

yakima, wa.
Take some zipties and run them through the windows over the paddles and bend the paddles over. That way u can push the track up in to the tunnel.

Can't get them bent down very far. I can actually move the drive shaft less with the zip ties in the way.

If someone wants to buy a mountain cat chaincase and the tki templates, now would be a good time to talk me into selling them :D

edit: jeesh....got it. I took two piece of aluminum bar stock about the width of the track windows and forced them over the top of the drivers, then rolled them so that the aluminum was blocking them off and forcing the teeth out.

Now I have to put the dropped case on because it's too hard to put back together any other way.

I had no trouble getting my 3" and 8 tooth drivers in dry, solo. Out was mean. Glad you figured it out.

The template for cutting the chaincase side sits on the inside of the tunnel so what did you base the outside cuts on?

Cut a little at a time until it slides in all the way

That pic is not a great example. I took a little extra in a couple spots.
