Not you, I was responding to sum8 saying the m1000 sucked on one ski…

I loved it on one ski and only rode trees. I get bored in big open hills.

Lots of cheaper 1000 s in my area. A can and pipe would put up like 500 lbs and 195 horse right?

Coming off the 900, i also know nothing about efi tuning.

U must be 250-300lb?
Big guys could toss a 1000.
My 170lbs on my piped 09 would clown on m1000's all day long.

Clutched, pipe, head can bump 200. I had a boondocker controller that once tuned (simple)was flawless.

If I hadn’t of loved mine I wouldn’t waste my breathe. Hell, I’ve even got three 11 m-8’s for sale so I should be pushing them…

My response is based off your desire for 900 bottom end.
THATs where the 1000 tromps the 800.

My 11 turbo was awesome on mid, top, great on bottom, but nothing like the 1000 bottom end.

I was 230-240 back then.
Had an 11 m8 (it’s on the porch right now) along with the 09 1000.
1000 pulled way harder.

I think 190hp is more realistic. Without opening up the engine.

My buddies modded m1000 174x3 is the only N/A sled that would out climb my 165 Alpha. Climbing, it was flat impressive!

Try to turn on flat ground. Lol

That Kmod made it horrible to boondock and I'm not strong enough to steer it all day.
At 170lbs, I was like a flea riding a dog. It went wherever it wanted, and I was along for the ride.

If ur young, carry 250lbs+ well, have strong shoulders, like a challenge with the pull rope. Enjoy going straight-up and down hills, Go get urself a M1000.

I would like to see someone doing hopovers and bowties on an M1000!

You don’t really think the first bow ties and hop overs were done recently and captured on video do you?
We’d do them on king cats to dismount o **** cornices instead of rolling down the hill dang near 20 years ago.
Called them 180’s or “holy **** that was f’n cool” but same moves.

I would really like to see pics or videos of u doing those moves on the 1m.
Not from 20yrs ago. From this weekend, next week or sometime before June this yr.

Perspective is not always reality....

Well if the 1000 is lighter than my current sled i might as well go with it right?
M1000 is better than the 1m, more agile and easier to ride however, the M8 is so much easier. If u like the extra work to go the same place, choose the heavier machine.
That is why I chose the 153 over the 162. More work to go the same place.

That’s where I keep going back to your initial comment about wanting bottom end like the 900. The 1000 has more torque and can launch.

I Love the M8, very capable sleds, fast, responsive.

If you want an engine that feels like the hungry monster your 900 is but in a better chassis the 1000 will do that better than the 8.

I thought my '09 M1000 with a Y-pipe, reeds, a can, boondocker box, EGTs, and clutching was pretty awesome coming from my M7. Especially on deep days. When the 2011 M8 showed up I thought it was a fun sled, but didn't have the same pull of the M1000. I found myself wanting to ride the M8 more often than not though. Especially on mediocre snow days. Even on deep days the M8 got around well maintaining momentum. I'm 6'-2" and about 260lb in those days.

It sounds like you're set on a M1000 though. It will handle much better than a 900 1M chassis. Get a 2009 or newer as they are in a lighter, improved chassis. I'll close in saying: tree riding a M1000 is like riding single track on a 450 motocross bike. It can certainly be done, but isn't always the best tool for the job.

I loved my M1000. Y-pipe, pipe, can, fuel pressure regulator, and egt’s. I should have ponied up for boondocker box. Had a mid range lean spot that bit me. Did the geo mod to the skid to make it handle. Ended up snowchecking a pro rmk when it came out and never looked back. Loved the power but they’ve made so many advancements in handling since.
