your thermostat should open at around 115 ,I dont know the why's and how's of temps on sleds but know the rules,your correct for bikes...cutler performance center has a good write up on temps for sleds they might mention why,moded or not same range applies.I know in my bike manuals vs sled manuals will both mention different opening temps to check for on the thermostat..120-140 is what I try for for operating temp....changeing thermostat somwhat regularly is inexpensive and helps to eliminate one of the factors that can shorten engine life...

I cant put into words that I can type how happy I am with my mod..
The machine feels and handles much like a bike and FAR better than origanal..ergos are fantastic.. chewed up a few new 800 xps coming down the mountain
Its going to be a great season!!

Ready for the silencer
Just started it yesterday night and tonight again without the silencer just to make sure everything works right, 14" track spins no prob, suspension feels good without any revalve. That Gen 2 Jaws is surprisignly quiet without the silencer by the way. She has been a real ***** to fit in the wider frame, looks good now though. She's getting the custom silencer treatment tomorrow then she'll be all good to hit the slopes.
Sometime this week I'll be going for a first test ride.
Let me tell ya boys, this is one ***** *** track right there ! It's been way too much work but I'm happy with the results so far.
By the way, Loctite SuperGlue Extra Gel is the best damn thing I've ever used to glue grips on. I glued the Dual compound Renthal Grips I got there with this glue and within 5 minutes, they were just like concrete, hardest assembly I ever achieved. Seem like I'll have to cut them to get them off which is perfect !!!

lets see a side view of the rear end and a shot from back to see how big of a butt your hawk has!! no rounding the egdes of the track? how deep is the snow up there!?!?

Here's a shot of her 14" wide arze ! Of course it would be nice to have a 12.5 or a 13 incher right beside to see the difference but this photo will come eventually.
Took her out for the first time yesterday in about 2" of base and 1" of pow just to see if everything worked good. Indeed, everything worked as expected, the real test will be in 36" of fresh Revy pow going up against a 162 M8 or Summit ! The extra inch didn't seem to give me trouble steering or leaning at all.
Sorry no suspension pics for now... Oh and this part of the project worked grrrreat too !

What people have to understand is that this mod is about throwing away (or in a box!) most parts on the Hawk except the 2 main frameplates and fork assembly. So all the hooks out there have had to be properly redesigned, spaced/shimmed/bolted to fit the + or - 1/2" they needed in order to still fit the stock body panels hook system. The rest 1" longer like jackshaft, driveshaft, motor plate, all the cross bars... It is a major mod, complete dissasemby of everything is required. Sounds kinda simple to add one inch but how the hell did ran into a lot of problems to solve with this projects... Now everything seem to work great and I'm super hapy about it !
It was very important to me that the mod allowed me to run the stock bodyparts ... And I don't exactly know why, it would have been way easier to just not run the back cowling for example... I don't know maybe it's because I want people (sledders mainly) to relate this particular machine not to a true one-off mod sled (even though it kinda is) but as something out there that had potential but has never been taken to where it should have been for XYZ reasons. Kind of a tribute & ultimate respect to the potential of the machine to do it that way I guess...

How can I say that to sound right... "Unfair" probably. Well, you guys can judge by yourself. A 12.5" by 136" looks kinda funny beside it.
Full report to come... first results from the 2 days of riding I got on it is that it's just something else right there, another breed of bird, not sure how to call it still...
By the way Lox has my black plastics/graphics not to confuse anyone !
Funny thing is Lox's machine and mine are "grown-up twin bro" !
They're 1 digit difference on the serial number ! He has #18 of '08, I got #19 !!! Both came the same from the factory as 144" "MTN" machines.
