How good is a Series IV Track...?

I know the series 5.0 was NOT very good. Polaris did make improvements on the 08's and 09's w/ the 5.1.

I currently have 2.52 drivers on a 07 685 RMK and am trying to find the best "all around" track for it. From what I hear the Series IV 2.4 151/159track is a really good track but I have ZERO experience with one. In order for me to put on a Series 5.1 155, I would have to change drivers...is the 5.1 track THAT much better than the Series IV? Is the series IV 151 heavier than a 5.1 155?

thanks

i have been running the IV 159 on 2 sleds and have had 0 problems i think it is a great all around track pretty durrable for me so far.

Do NOT waiste your money on the 5.1... if you can find a 2.4 series IV it is a terrific track. I've put it on all my sleds now, even on my Edge RMKs because it works so well. If you can't find one of them then go with one of the Camoplast tracks, but don't spend money on the 5.1.

I have an '04 660 that I put the 151x2.4 series IV under and it works terrific.

Thanks for the input guys....

Sled_guy: are you saying that you think the Series IV is a BETTER track than the 5.1 or are you simply saying that in my situation it is not worth the money since I would have to spend money on new drivers and then the hassel of replacing them? Do you think the 159 is too long for my "little" 685 at 10K feet?

Did they make different lug heights for the series IV?

thanks

Jesse, I concure with what Dan is saying. The 151 length is excellent for that complete system and that track is also a great powder track. I would have instantly installed the 151 for my 660 but it required alot of work over what we had in a 144 (of course I would do the finger). You are well under 200lbs so you do not require the flotation of the 159 which will also eat your sleds power. That 685 is almost identical to a very well setup and ported 700 efi or a very well setup stock 800 and once you go past 155 you sacrefice pop so if you don't need it for flotation because of vehicle and rider weight you will get better performance from the shorter track. For examply the 144 that we run on a like weighted and hp'd sled far far outperformed the 700efi with the 155 in every condition. TRACK SPEED out weighed flotation on that application. Now add a heavier rider and you rapidly loose your advantage. Balance is the key...you are super lucky to have bought a sled that already has you pointed to the correct balance of vehicle weight to power. For an aggressive rider of your weight the perfect track length is 151..YOU ARE THERE...buy the track Dan says and enjoy!
