EZ-ryde help/advise needed

I've been running my 162 EZ-ryde on a Cat M7 1000 big bore for a few seasons and lovin it. This year I turboed the sled and I can't get the track to quit ratcheting under power. It doesn't ratchet constantly, just occasionally at the first quick roll on of the trottle. I have the track so tight that the sled won't roll back off the sled deck. That can't be right!:face-icon-small-con

I checked with the folks at EZ ryde and confirmed the mounting dimensions. It's within 3/8" of spot on. I'll follow up with them some more, but I thought that one of you might have some top secret formula that helped with your problem. What do ya think? Any experiences with this perdicament that I'm in? Either post here or PM me, please.

Thanks ahead of time for your help!

Put Avid drivers on it and run that thing so lose u think it will fall off.... Its the only way to go. its not the skid its the drivers.

I've noticed I have to run my EZ-Ryde a LOT tighter than I'd like also. I've never heard of Avid drivers. What are they and where can I get a set? Sorry to jump in Tony, but I had to.

Cool!...Thanks, I'll check into it.

I am curious, how do all the turbo 1200s use the stock drivers and stock skids. They have the same factory dual extrovert drivers? I've inspected my drivers and they look great.

I noticed that some of my clips are missing. The track was only clipped on everyother and now I'm missing about 8. Do missing clips make the track ratchet or does the track ratcheting make the clips come off (chicken-egg)

No prob on the jump in Junkie......always looking to learn something new. That's why we pay the big bucks to get on SW.......LOL

Checked the Avid site. They didn't have a stock replacement in the online catalog. Called em and they are headed to Jackson......will get more info on Monday. Still not understanding how much difference between stock extroverts and theirs???????

Hey Bud,

I ran an Ezryde on my 172" Nytro with 330 horse and it never ratcheded my Avids. I ran my track banjo tight. Did you inspect the drivers to look for mushrooming? May be silly but check your hyfax wear as well.

ez ryde

i run avids with my 156 camo extreme and ez ryde skid with around 280 hp and it doesnt ratchet at all. avids are cnc machined out of a piece of plastis i beleive and the others are poured into a mold, this is what makes them stronger i heard. and the ez ryde has to be ran so tight because with this particular skid as it absorbs a bump and the shocks compress the rails move up and back and the track gets looser as it happens. so when your riding it its a little loser then it is when your not sitting on it. correct me if im wrong this is just what i read somewere.

That is true, when I bought my EZ-Ryde, Christian explained that to me, as the skid compresses it loosens the track, but still compared to my stock skid, I know even compressed, the track is a LOT tighter than when I had the stocker in. I believe the angle of the track with the EZ puts less track on the drivers then the stock skid, and that's why you have to go tighter. I chimed in on this thread because I want to be able to go even looser on the track than I am now without the ratchet. It isn't a lot but the tighter track robs some power, and we just can't have that!!:face-icon-small-coo:face-icon-small-coo

Been watching this thread because I'm thinking about buying a 153 Ez-Ryde for my 05 M7 w/CPC 1000 BB with PowerClaw track. Hearing alot of good info about the skid. I'm looking for something strong (I'm 6'8 275lbs w/gear) but lightweight also. Sounds like ez-ryde is the way to go. Sounds like avid drivers are the way to go also. Does anyone have Zbroz shocks in their skid? Heard they make it really work. Keep the info coming. Thanks :face-icon-small-hap

I hvae heard the ZBroz shocks are way better than the Zero Pros in the EZ Ryde.

Thanks for the feedback everyone.

I'm used to running it really tight, but now it's so tight that the thing won't roll off the deck. Checked both stock extrovert drivers and they look great. Nothing obvious. I had the back of the suspension mounted down about 3/8" but I put it back up to spec to see. The hifax are getting worn, but not sure what effect that has on ratching?? Got in and serviced the bushings and checked all aspects of the alignment...everything looks great!

M7...You'll like the suspension alot. The extra tension is the only weird part. Also, It does require a fair amount of upkeep. I take mine appart every year and replace all the worn bushings. I've revalved my stock shocks to get the ride I wanted and have hear awesome reviews on the Z-bro shock setup, just have never ridden one.

I have had two of them and IMO they won't work with stock drivers. The back end wanders on the EZRyde and it creates space on the drivers. I recommend trying some Wahls or Avids. It should be tight but not so tight it won't roll

I hvae heard the ZBroz shocks are way better than the Zero Pros in the EZ Ryde.

We have Z-Bro's shocks on both of our EZ rydes....... best skid + the best darn shock I've ever used = Nirvana, they Ride like a cadilac in all conditions.

I would recommend the Avids over the Wahls any day. Imo the wahls drivers are junk. Replaced them with avids, run the track looser and NO more racheting.

Ditto on the avids and also on the Z-bros shocks, I run them on both of my sleds. The top mount of the front shock broke on the Fox shock that came with the skid, the shaft went up through the track and inbetween the cooler on the tunnel putting an 8" cut in the tunnel right under the fuel tank (YIKES). The spring also broke in half when it went through the drivers and got threaded through the track windows, made for an interesting trip over the bars. Anyway replaced the shocks with the Z-bros, night and day diff. in quality, and the spring didn't damage the drivers at all.

Ran to 09 ez ryde skid all year. (shorter swingarm and shorter front shock). This allows you to run the track loose and helps keep the front down. I run the track very loose, you can turn a ce 162 with 1 finger. It does a decent job of keeping the front end down but not as well as a m10. I plan to try stiffer spring next year and see what happens.

Best ride of any skid I have been on. For a variety of conditions I feel it does a great job.

I also run avids, best money spent. Never had it ratchet.

I had the zero pros when I bought my EZ-Ryde, and then I forked out the money for the zbros. After getting the dampening adjusted and getting the right spring and pre-load, it is night and day difference. The shocks themselves are quite a bit beefier so it will add a little weight back when switching to the zbros, but well worth the money. They are a good company to deal with also, very good customer service.

Well that 3/8ths of and inch made a huge difference this weekend. Got it to quit ratcheting and it was still loose enough to roll...not super easy but it rolls.

Talked to the Avid guy. He can make me drivers, but was also thinking that it was something in my suspension setup. Nice folks to talk to.

Thanks everyone!

So which shock mount did you move and which way did you move it?
