Damaged Ski: should I replace it?

Hi all,

I pegged a big rock in early season conditions in Wyoming last month and broke the A-arm on a 2013 Summit. The plastic on my ski is bent and cracked on one side, near the middle, as well. The carbide is OK.

I'm planning a 4-week trip to BC next month and am debating whether I should replace the ski or not. For local riding I'd just leave it, but I'm worried about it breaking from a minor hit while I'm way out in the middle of nowhere and can't get a replacement. Does anyone have experience riding with similar damage? How well did it hold up?

Thanks!

Not saying it's right but both my skis got similar damage from rocks been riding like that for 2 seasons and hit stuff since and can't tell any difference from when they were new

That plastic is ultra durable. It's not going to break on you out there. I see that you have a few choices.

1. Leave it and run it. You likely won't notice anything is skewed.

2. Follow 2thetopps advice to straighten it out.

3. Buy a new one and replace it.

We do so many creek crossing all winter long are skis get beat to crap. That "damage" is no big deal at all. I dont even mess with them until the year is over. then you can fix with a heat gun or propane torch. its easy to make them look good again. Eric

Never broke a ski yet. Folded one over on itself that stood up vertical in front for a year. Hot sun in the trailer straightened it out , kind of. Kept using it.
It'll be fine unless you want to change it
