Cooke City Super 8--Disappointment that they are true to their policy.

So we had reservations to stay at the Cooke City Super 8 on February 4th for 3 or 4 nights, they where the last two rooms available there. On the morning of Feb 2nd we had to back out of the trip so I called and canceled. I was told over the phone the week prior that If we canceled we needed to cancel Sunday February 1st or the very latest Monday Feb 2nd AM to issue a refund. While looking over my credit card statements I noticed two charges for the first night of $93.50 each. Cooke City Super 8's official policy is 72 hrs notice to cancel. I was more like 53 hours before check in. I just called in to see if they could issue a refund, and they said no. So in going forward....

1. Cooke City Super 8 strictly enforces there cancellation policy
2. In all my years of traveling and snowmobiling I have never gotten a charge like this for having to back out of a rsvp with more than 24 hrs notice.
3. I won't try to stay there again

Cheers
Shawn

Take a look at the cancelation policy for the rest of the hotel/motels in Cooke......the Super 8's policy is very generous. I get your frustration but I understand why the hotels have these policies.

Waaaaaahhhhh. You held out hopin for snow but then realized the snow sucks and cancelled at the last minute. Too bad. You should try to run a business. Oh wait, they know all about flakes like you and your scamming ways so they have a policy and beat you to the punch. Now your mad.
Ahahahahah
I bet u whine like a dragging brake when your selling something and the person doesn't show up.
Deal with it.

I also notice that you have backed out of trips before. Sounds like your a serial flaker outer.
You book rooms and then jam out last minute. Get your crap together and quit being a scammer. Super 8 has been selling rooms a heckuvalot longer than you have been staying there. Therefore, you are wrong. They could have charged you for all 4 days. It cost u what, 20 a piece. Your sled is 15k. Wow.

bearclaw is shaking his head as he reads this thread. whether you were disappointed in the snow, you had a family member pass away, or your buddies flat out left you hanging..............you should be gracious they didnt charge you for the 3-4 nights you intended on staying. policy is policy, especially in a "tourist location"

Maybe you and that other guy (jreidmann0417) should have your mom's explain to you how the real world works instead of putting childish little posts about how a business operates. Yours was even spelled out for you in a policy. Many people think they are entitled to this because they "spend money in Cooke City and keep it alive". Cooke City was alive long before you attempted to make reservations and it will be alive and fine even if you don't come back. So do everyone a favor and please don't come back.

damm guys!!! what a beat down i think i saw the white flag 4 posts ago. :face-icon-small-ton
places like this in areas like this have make-it or break-it months during their year and that is why they have strict policies on cancellations. Despite being told while growing up the world revolved around you, its always a tough lesson to learn it doesn't.

Pretty much, Bob is one of the nicest guys in town and one of the few who well bend over backwards to keep guys in town and keep sledders sledding! I came to him one night to see if he had any parts, i had a oil leak on my turbo, he was going to town the next day and ran to Napa and got the few parts i needed. I don't know of too many others if any that will do that.....cancellation policy lol am still laughing over this seeing how so many places around the country have a 5 day or longer notice...

Never been to Cooke but it is on my bucket list for sure. Bob sounds like a great person to deal with. Being from an area that is a 24 hour town its usually 24 to 48 hour cancellation around here just because they have such a big pool of people calling for reservations that small places like Cooke don't have. That can also change during the year as well. Rules suck when you find yourself on the wrong side of them for sure but they are there for a reason and you dont really have a leg to stand on when you are on the wrong side. I remember having to call a Vegas hotel to cancel some rooms for my friends Off Road Race team that i was a member of because the owner/friend and co-driver/brother were involved in a near fatal testing accident the day we were suppose to put the car on the trailer and haul it down to Vegas for the Vegas To Reno Race one year. my friend was in a coma but still had to pay for the rooms that he booked for the team because we missed the deadline. So i can understand both sides pretty well

MMMMMMM

I would like to thank people for the support that you gave me and the motel. I feel this person has learned a lesson, not posting comments on the internet. Its childish and really should have thought it through before doing it.
I'm not here to run off any one or tell you not to come, but really. My opinion is that we let this drop and forget about it. Again guys, thanks for your support.
