BMP 860 kit

Well, as many people know (and rode) my BMP (Bikeman Performance) stage 3 & 4 build it was a great runner for the last couple years. With most of the parts already bought and on the sled I went for the next step, the 860 Big Bore this season.
I rode the stage build sled all over Upper Michigan and out west with zero issues except for the throttle position sensor and cheap china relays. This sled put a smile on my face every time compared to my stocker. I almost didn't do the 860, but I couldn't help myself. I honestly didn't think there would be as much difference over the stage 4, but Wow. So after riding around the U.P I'm getting ready to head out west to Montana and ID. Im running the low elevation head (domes) now and will change them out before going. Anyone on here have their 860 out west? Just wondering what your pulling for weights. I cant believe how much more it pulls here at sea level over the stage kit. The extra CC's, porting, exhaust valve mods and programming are impressive!

As you can see they do some nice porting and must modify the lower case and bottoms of the cylinders. I already had the pipe, Y-pipe, can and Bullydog programer. They just downloaded the new tune, bored out the old cylinders, re Nikasil plate them and customize the exhaust valves. The new pistons are the durability ones that are coated for break-in and lubrication holes and wider ring spacing for better cooling. I know Lefty that guides out in Tog has been running an BMP 860 but I cant reach him. Maybe Ill have to stop there on my little trip ;)

I ride 8000 to 10000 ft. I'm currently running 71.6 with the Gold star weights and a Venom/Team bright yellow spring (120/340). The magnets are arranged in holes 1 to 4:
3, 3, 1, 2.

I'm going to try them set as 3, 3, 2, 1 the next time I go out.

Thanks. That gives me a starting point. Ill be testing some different weights and springs while I'm out there. I still cant get over the weights this is pulling here at our elevation. Is your throttle response snappier too? This took a day to get used to! Seems like the torque on this thing pulls hard through the whole spectrum. From about 7500 up it really pulls. I cant wait to go ride with my boosted buddies out west. They rode my last stage kits while I rode theirs, they were really impressed. On up hill drag races they would catch me mid hill and pass me on the top end. I might take a couple helixes with me too.

Are you going to Cooke? If so id get fuel in bozeman. There's a station that sells 93 non ethyl If your going over 14.5. Also story distribution has Sunoco 110 out of the pump in Belgrade.

Id recommend you use a weight in this style. Super easy to go from 80 g down to 60. Never know what your going to get into for trouble.. And they simply work better than anything I have ever used or been around.

Thanks for the tip on gas. I know thats a problem lots of places. The builds I like doing are all pump gas premium. I even ran my low elevation heads at up to 12,000 last year one week to see how it would do. It still ran good with no det, but you leave some big power on the table with them. On a side note, Im surprised I got a few years out of the light weight battery! I figured it would be toast after the 1st year. 13 pounds is a lot of weight to save for cheap! 2.75lbs!!

I’ve been riding almost every day for the last two weeks. Montana with friends, McCall Idaho riding and helping with their Disabilitied veterans ride. Jackson Hole, and Togwotee. Running excellent, so I’m torn on keeping it or ordering a new sled. Two lower A-arms in two weeks:(
