Type Z, as I understand it, there is a proposed 450cc single cylinder 4 stroke engine, and a 650cc single cylinder 2 stroke engine.
The issues with the TimberSled (and the other kits) are;
They are typically under powered........ even with the HP 450s.
They are heavy.
They offer an unnecessary high center of gravity.
The entire tunnel/track system must pivot (adding enertia to the rear suspension system).
The OEM seats are Butt Killers.
Offer an akward exhaust system that must wrap around before heading rear-ward.
Some have engine cooling issues.
Most have a small fuel capacity, causing the need for a fuel caddy mounted on the tunnel.
Many to do not offer kick-start (for when the battery or starter motor acts up)
The rider is limited to an RPM range per each selected spur gear.
I will say that my son, son-in-law and stepson have a blast on their KTM powered TimberSleds.
The 500s are a bit underpowered, while the 450 HP appears to have adequate power.
Who ever pulls off the dedicated Snow Bike (Skidoo, Polaris or Arctic Cat), I think that they are going to be great!
