Anyone know anything about D&D's 901 big bore...

I've been wondering if anyone knows anything about D&D'd 901 big bore for the M8. I sent an Email request to D&D but haven't gotten any response and they have no info their web site re: this motor. I know boondockers has one in testing that is turbo'd but thats about it.

Also is there any particular reason why arctic cat performace shops/engine builders do not have an answer to doo and pol 860 big bores? (Other than adding a turbo.) There are some big bores out there, but from what I have gathered they are based off the M7 motor. It seems there are very few options for M8's and minimal info on what what is working.

Thanks in advance for any info or insight. Reese

Reese, you are barking up the right tree here. The 901 kit has shown promising results and is still being tested here in the west for optimal performance in both naturally aspirated and turbo versions. What has been seen so far is awesome and should only get better. Should be able to post more in about 3 weeks.

I have no idea about how they run at elevation, but down here in the flats, its prety easy to get 175 hp from porting and a single pipe on the 800 cat, which is more than the 840/860's make on the same dyno

Thanks for the replies! :beer;

Racinstation please give updates as able.

I have spent some time researching the various pipe, head and porting mods, but I question weather or not they will produce the torque needed to compete with the 860 class BB's. I guess I'm more of the "There is no replacement for displacement" mentality.

Then start throwing twin pipes, high comp heads and race gas at the 860 class sleds. I just don't know if there is anything outhere for us cat guys in this category (other than a turbo). If there is let please me know, I would love to hear about it.

The Boondocker crew had one with a turbo on it at the fairview shootout that was way inpressive. I think it ran better that their 1200 turbo. I have no clue about stock form, but with a turbo it's scary fast.

I spoke with a rep at D&D not Dale; and they indicated they could ship me one right out. I also was speaking to one of their distributors and he thought he had one in stock. I believe Racinstation is probably right they may have a more high alt specific spec coming. Everyone I spoke to said it is a great engine kit. Very good performance and reliability. It is not on their site but is in their most current catalog as available in two stage 1 and stage 2

I had pm'd boondockers at the begining of the month. Junior said that they had run that motor up to 19+ lbs. on 116 octane and that it was proving to be very reliable. So its got that going for it, "which is nice":)
