I was wondering if Winter Park has anything? i remember two years ago i rode there once... across the highway from the ski resort. anybody been or live there?

I am new to the denver area so no I've never ridden there, but I will be more than happy to explore it with you next week sometime.

ok cool so am i. i live with my girlfriend down in Lakewood, but my sleds are in Conifer... i may check winter park next weekend?????

Let's do it! If anyone wants to point us in the right general direction, I will not be disappointed at all. You could even join us

My pops rode Church Park today and said it was REALLY thin. He's a mellow rider and said it was sketchy getting off the trail. Unless you're trail riding be careful out there.

I won't ride the flat crap at Church park, but if you mean corona, a few of us will be up there on sat.
If you don't have beacons, the flat crap at church park is a better place.

If you've got avy gear, shoot me a PM, we know Corona pretty well & would be happy to tour guide for the day.

A buddy boarding at Winter Park today told me there was 6" of fresh at the end of the day, should be a bit more this evening. Corona should see at least the same.

Here are a couple of good threads over on another site that might help show you what the winter park area is all about. If you have the avy gear, I'd go check it out....if not, I'd stay out of there.

Good info Ullr. Yep, the snow is good over there. We've had a blast the last few weekends.

Check the avy reports though, the danger is HIGH right now.

Rode Corona yesterday and there were some decent stashes with 2+ fresh. It is fairly bottomless tho so watch out for land mines. Overall pretty decent.

2" or feet? Because we broke trail to most of the lower Meadows today, with snow rolling over my hood in spots.

That's a smart Idea  Here's an avy from today under the trestle. And a second avy west of the trestle a pretty big slab broke on a side hill 50 yards above us and the tree line!

I set this guy off today, gave it one light cut & it dropped.

After the slide I went up to check out the snow, there was still about 6-8" of faceted snow, the next load of snow will slide just about as easily as this one did, scary.

No I didn't get stuck, I went back up to check out the layering by the crown.

Also set off a remote to the right of the first frame from about 25 foot downhill, and the slope to the left of the trestle had a few fractures as well.

None of these were anything big, and all were rather slow, but they were smaller aspects.

I rode church park the past two days and I would agree that it definitely needs more snow, but it wasn't as bad as everybody seems to think. Granted, anything south facing is a lost cause but I still got into some nice powder everywhere else. Most of the old logging roads are untracked because people have been avoiding the area.
