99 to 2000 chain case

will a 99 chain case work in a 2000 chassie,got this 2000 chasie but was missing chain case but I have a 99 i am parting out,has good chain case.

Maybe a stupid question but I have an oil leak on my 2000 700 with reverse and am wondering how that cover comes off with only 1/4 inch clearance against the body???
