Has anyone changed from there 141" to a 146" on there XF800 High Country. Looking at getting the 2 1/2" Camo Extreme with bigger wheels, different drivers and an off set axle to facilitate the longer track without changeing rails or adding length to tunnel. How much difference has it made to anyone who has done the swap ?

I have thought of this myself and by the time your done it's much cheaper to go to 153" with rail ext. And it will fit under HC tunnel. I am trying to find 153 PC 2.6 for mine right now. I know for sure a 144 would fit if you went to 2.52 drivers. And you can use the stock wheels on it also. But then your track is heavier and more rolling restance

Go with the 153 if you are going to do it. You can buy the 153 rails from partsnation for about $160 and they should mount up directly to your suspension... then all you need is the track and you are off and running....

I plan on doing this with my HC although I am pretty happy with my shorty, don't really think its worth it...

EDIT: rails are about $260, not $160... sorry. Black rails are about $30 more per each.

Some of us don't want to ride a 153... a 146 has a rather different feel than a 153. If someone wanted a 153... just buy an M.

Another option is the 144 ce... that may be more ideal for what you want? You'd end up with the same track on the ground, but with the stock wheels and drivers. Big wheels are weaker, and aluminum wheels are less than ideal for a number of reasons.

how pricey is it to do a 2.52 driver setup? and how does driver wheels measure is it a ratio??? what does adding the drivers do... are they smaller than the ones we have now? i have also thought about when i want a new track what to go with and its alot easier to get 144's than 141's.... option wise that is.

3" or 2.52" is the pitch of the track & therefore the drivers, it's just the distance between cogs.

Crap, Bearcat you're right... no more 144.

btw, for a 146, you'd want this one, the polaris version, not the doo version.

9145 Challenger Extreme 15 146 2.5 53 full 2.86 Center Port for Polaris

Which is a 2.86 pitch, and I THOUGHT (someone correct me if not) that you could run the 2.86 on our drivers... or was it just the other way around? Either way, I'm sure you can get drivers from Avid.

here you go

IF I could get a 141 2.5 or 2.6 I'd have one... wish they made it. Honestly, it's tempting to get that track, as the new CE is a great track! (even if you have to add 5" of track to get there.)

On the M we're able to put a 156 on a 153 skid... not sure how much track a big wheel really takes up, but you MIGHT be able to get away with it, not sure though.

All the 2013 Procross sleds have the 2.86 pitch drivers> The turbos might have exoverts, Not totaly sure. Proclimb sleds are 3.0 pitch Black diamond has light weight shafts and drives for the new proclimb for a little over $200 I have seen sets of of 2.52 drives with shafts on Hardcore sledder also. Just depends what you want and how much you want to spend. Also you can get 2.86 exoverts off the race sled

Good info man! Should be a pretty easy swap then!

I just really wonder about the length then... I know you could swing a 144 without mods, but wonder if you could do a 146 with just a big wheel? Seems like the best way would be to just buy some 146 rails from ice age. (looking that up though... they want $500 for rails... F*** that.) You could get 136 rails & extensions for WAY less than that.

Last year we got to a 151 after a bud stabbed through a 141. On His 12 HC. Used 10 tooth 2.52 drivers with a set of 9" big wheels and Offset axle. We had these parts laying in the trailer. I am sure you could get to 146 with just offset axle and 2.86 pitch drivers. It's only 2.5" longer on the ground than a 141. Don't forget you can also move the skid back 1" with the holes you can drill out. also you will be geared higher with the 2.86 pitch drivers over the 3.0 pitch. I mean you will have more top speed.

Yeah, so you'd have to gear down more as well... not that it would be a bad idea anyhow with the added grip of the 2.5 track.

I'm not a fan of sliding the skid back... IMO it increases the negative qualities of this sled rather than bringing out the positives by bringing the leverage point back, adding ski pressure & making it feel EVEN MORE like a trail sled. The shorter track will negate this under power, but on downhills it does things I don't like.
