I just picked up this bike over the weekend. It was a package deal with a 2016 mototrax Scout xc. Didn't miss a beat out on the trail. Low hours on rebuilt top end.
I have an Idea of what I need for mods. please chime in if you have a better plan or if I am missing something.
1. trailtech stator
2. thermostat w/ bypass... what type or brand?
3. grip warmers
4. headlight
5. air filter screen...what type or brand?
6. gas can...what type or brand?
7. 5w-40 oil?

I run a 2011 also. I have a thermobob thermostat, pod air filter, plastic skid plate, homemade engine shrouding, iceage led light(ran off factory stator just fine, but is switched), 5w40 in both sides.

I was thinking about adding grip heaters too, also would be switched so I could run them or the light separately.

What kind of terrain will you be riding? Mtn or trails?

I would also add handguards to your list as the block the wind/snow and keep the trees off your hands, at least for us mountain riders.

I run a 2013crf
I did a thermobob t-stat with tto temp gage
Going with a PST engine jacket
Going to try 0-40 oil this season as my bike was a PITA to start with rotella 15-40
Hand guards
Bar mitts
TS intake (works awesome in deep pow)
I'm on a 15 TSLT so I also picked up a yeti mx maxtrack 2.5 137 that I'm going to replace the TS 2" track with. I'm also running the TSS shock

End of last season was my first time on a kit in the mountains. Was a blast!

I would love to see how that pst jacket works around the exhaust on our bikes. That's the biggest pain for trying to shroud these hondas.

I'm running an 09 CRF450R pretty stock aside from the few of your mods you mentioned. I don't think a stator is necessary unless you want to run grip heaters and a light at the same time. Cyclopes does make a kit but I'm pretty sure you can't run both at the same time on an EFI bike. I'd also add a real seat to yours, you sit A LOT on a snowbike. Anyways I have everything below.

-Thermobob thermostat (http://shop.watt-man.com/Thermo-Bobs_c4.htm)
-Cyclops LED 630 (http://www.cyclopsadventuresports.com/Penetrator-LED-630-series-Dirt-Bike-Headlight-kit_p_14.html)
-Acerbis plastic skid plate with P3 foam inbetween skid plate and bottom of motor.
-Outerwears prefilter that TS sends with their fit kits over my stock air filter cage, but with the way you have the airbox open you'll need to do something else. I have the small stock holes on the side panels covered in prefilter.
-Mountain Addiction can on my TS, I think MotoTrax uses rotopax or whatever they are called. I'd get ahold of them for fuel storage.
-Then for oil I just swapped over for Rotella T6 (5w40) in both sides.

Mountain s

I'll be running mountains. What hand guards would you recommend?
Hand warmers will draw more than the led light I assume. Does anyone know how much power a factory stator puts out?

I run cycra handguards and like them. But any of them work fine. I was going to add heaters to mine and try to run them with the light off, basically one or the other .

Curious if anyone has on these bikes. The light doesn't affect it at all.

Here is the short list:

Good wrap around hand guards.
Engine Jacket.
Thermo-bob.
Temp Guage.
Good skid plate.
******I would not recommend an aftermarket stator******

You can run a light with the stock stator or get battery powered lights that are rechargeable. A lot of my customers use helmet lights or rechargeable lights they just clamp on the bars if needed.

I have never seen an aftermarket stator in the motorcycle world that was any good. I think we have tried every brand and have had failures with them all.

I totally left hand guards off on my list, I'm running Fastway by Promoto Billet. They are nice but also know they replace the top bar clamps as some of the others just clamp around your bars (like the cycras) so just think about that before you get a set. Like if you plan to mount accessories and whatnot you start to run out of places, or if you go with ice age's light you can't use that and Fastway guards. All the handguards are pretty much the same, you more use it for hand protection from branches. So whatever has the biggest sheilds and is the cheapest ha. Also I think those stators are good for 30w or 40w if I remember right? I'm sure someone from Ice Age or Cyclops could give you better info as they've tested them I'm assuming. I know the Cyclops guy has.

Ok.
I'm tearing it down for the build up.
So far this is what's here or on the way.
uncut plastics
Thermobob
trailtech voyager
Cycra probend
ATV muffs (Foregoing Hand warmers for now)
Custom kevlar Engine cover
18w led light
5w-40 rotella synthetic
extra rear master cylinder for easier swaps

2part question. I took the stock filter element off and noticed without it the screen is about 1/16" from the mating surface. I could drill 1/8" out out of the screen pilot hole and get it to mate or will the outerwear fill that gap? Is there a need to keep the airbox on it? or could I run it with just a prefilter on the back of the throttle body?

hand muffs

I tried atv type hand muffls in the past, warm but annoying to get your hands into while riding, went to GIANT LOOP big funny hand guards, best thing I ever did for riding in mx gloves all day in snowy conditions.

Sounds like you pretty much have it covered. I ran handwarmers on my 2011 CRF - but would not do it again. The electrical connections on that bike seemed very fragile, I ended up having lots of problems with it.

Unless you plan to ride at night on a regular basis I'd look at battery powered LED mtn. bike lights. Carry one in your pack, you can strap them to your bars or helmet in a matter of seconds and ride out with plenty of light when needed. They're cheap, lightweight and don't require tampering with your electrical system.

What do you guys think about the air box situation I mentioned?

I read that a few times and I'm having trouble imagining what you are talking about. Pictures could help. Also I saw you said non cut plastics if you want you could keep those and just run a snorkle type intake and take the airbox out. I'm thinking about doing this this year.

the basket fits over a post. The center bore bottoms out on the post before the perimeter of the basket seats on the airbox. so I thought I could just drill the bore in the basket a little further.

That's the stock "basket" or cage that comes with the bike. With backfire screen included. I just put my prefilter over that and pulled the excess edges until they were more under the lip and ran it down. I thought I tugged on the edges after it was tight down and they didnt pull out. I can check when I get home tonight.

I ordered a UNI pod filter for snow and an outerwears pre-filter. After taking the air box out I need to find a way to reconnect the breather vent and incoming air sensor. I think I can find a sprinkler fitting at ace for the breather. The thermistor could tuck inside the pre-filter?

I have a silicone adapter that goes to an intake pod with predicted that I made. I drilled and screwed the intake air temp sensor in and the breather line.

I'm building out my 2011. When you installed your kit, did you take the plastic inserts out to put the spacers in for the track or did you drill them out. I found the plastic inserts to be only very slightly larger than the spacers. I'm not sure I can get them thin enough to put the spacers in. Any insights would be appreciated. Thanks.
