100LL Avgas..

Hey y'all, so with the 850 calling for 91+ octane is it safe to run 100LL (Low Lead) aviation gas?? Thx in advance?

While I can't speak about whether avgas was used specifically during testing, they did test the 850etec on up to 100 octane fuel with no issue.

Thx for replys. I ask because most of the gas stations in my area only offer 88 ethanol free. But I'm near a small airport.

You will not gain anything with the AV gas... other than it stores better.

AV Gas, 100LL has thermal properties that will diminish it's transient throttle response... that you can actually feel... Also... 100LL has a motor octane number (MON) of around 103-104... with 110 race gas having a MON of 106-107...

Way too much octane IMO for the tight control of the eTech system.

But, as pointed out, you will not hurt anything... other than the possibility of lead fouling of the spark plugs.

I used to use 100LL in a turbo Yamaha. Granted it had reduced compression, but cold starts on really cold days were a pain.
With the 850, I doubt you will experience this issue.

88 Non Ethanol

At 8K you are good. At 6K you are in the "marginal zone", however if you have the ignition timing retarded 1 or 2 degrees - you will be golden IMHO. There may be other opinions.
