08 XP THROTTLE THUMB LEVER REMOVAL

I am installing a SnoBunjie Throttle Logic "Lefty" throttle lever. It requires the removal of the standard thumb throttle lever on the right in order to mount a block assembly for the cable run.

Question, how does the standard righthand thumb throttle lever come off? I did some light lifting/prying to see if it lifts off the handle/quadrant but chickened out for fear of snapping the thumb lever pivot points.

Anyone with experience out there who has done this installation on the 08XP, that can give sound guidance on removing the thumb lever?

IF, I remember correctly. There is a allen screw on the back of the throttle assembly that you loosen or remove. Once you have that done, the piece will slide out of the throttle assembly (don't remember which way it slides) and you can pull the throttle assembly off of your bars.

For anyone else looking to do this, my experience follows; Loosen the kill switch and slide it towards the center of the bars. Loosen the set screw on the back of the thumb throttle mount. This will allow you to now "slip out" the large "key" on the back that acts as a locking mechanism. After you have the "key" out, slip the throttle assembly off of the bar. Take a pair of needle nose pliers and lift out on the throttle cable and turn it 90 degrees and slip it back through the thumb throttle lever slot. Looking inside the throttle lever assembly while turning the thumb lever, you will see a "tong" on each pivot point line up with openings in the assembly. With the "tongs" lined up with the openings, pry the pivot points out lightly with a small screwdriver.
