04 1m 900 mountain cat over oiling

A friends 900 mountain cat was in storage for about a year and a half. All the oil drained from the tank there was a ton of oil in the pipe. Cleaned everything started it and it is still over oiling. The marks are lined up on the pump. Any ideas? Is there another way to check the pump

If I remember correctly I believe when the pump goes out it full oils seems as I read that somewhere years ago my 05 900 kk is over oiling also have lived with it for a year or so but it's getting annoying backup sled now but would like to know the answer as a new pump isn't cheap???
