You will likely not be able to use the Exhaust valves from the 06... it's a P-tek and unless you have the whole wireing harness and ecm then you'll need your stock gas operated valves from your old HO.

Other than that it should be a bolt in.

I have been considering doing the same thing with an 07 engine. Will the 04 electronics work with the newer motor. I have the 04 rave valves. The original motor detonated wreching the crank, cases and a cylinder. I dont really want to have to buy a MPEM to do the swap but am considering it anyway to add reverse as my 04 didnt have it. Are there any issues to address with the 07 motors? I am planning on checking crank runout before i install and probably pulling top end off. Just because its a used motor. Claims to have 1500 miles on it

Thanks

If the 07 is from a Summit it will be the 800R and like jacmmaxwell said it will not work uless you change a lot of other parts over as well. If it is an 800R and has 1500 miles on it or less I would not buy it unless the owner can prove it was bought from Skidoo in 2009 or newer. Any 2007 or 2008 models are possible ticking time bombs unless someone had the case halfs bored to the correct specs and a new crank thrown in.

I think you guys got a little off base there, snowmanx said the donor motor was an 06 800, which I believe is still the 800HO?
800R monoblock motor didn't come out till 07. 06 800 was one of the most reliable out there everyone claims.
I don't believe there should be any problems swapping the 06 HO into the 04 chassis, correct me if I'm wrong, I can take it!! ; )

Just checked Ingles Perf. microfiche, 06 800 is HO with pressure operated powervalves. Should be an easy swap, I'd have the 06 MPEM module to go with it though.

These guys were talking about two different scenarios. The '06 is definately not a straight forward swap either. In '06 they came with knock sensors, throttle position sensors, and electronic rave valves. So a guy would need the head, wiring, mpem, and possibly carbs (depending where they stash the tps) the case and cyls should all be the same if you can use the rest of your stuff
