what skid plate is the best? i like the extreme but it is pretty minimeal.
the original one holds ice but i think it protects the chain case.

The RPM carbon one is very expensive but provides much better protection. $649.00

That one looks awesome. If you buy the rpm composite you will have to put a skid plate over it because it looks too nice to wreck. I bought jeff's demo that had a ski doo skid plate on it and it is just loaded with snow all day. You can look at one without a skid plate and there is no snow. Never wrecked anything that a skid plate would have made a difference.

I have the same bumper and skidplate coming. Was it hard to get them to fit together at the bottom of the bumper to the skid? Yours looks great, I hope mine comes out as well

Is that the XC Cast bumper? My RPM composites skid is arriving this week and I'm looking for a bumper solution that works with it.
That XC bumper is a beast and the fit and finish is amazing! The stock one is a joke compared to this thing. I really like how it mounts also. Just made everything up front really solid with zero flex.
Now for the fun part. They don't fit together out of the box.
I had to grind down the inside of the center bumper support a little bit with an angle grinder and aluminum grinding wheel. Took me about a beer to talk myself into grinding a $300 bumper vs returning it, but by that point I already had the stock bumper off and middle support bracket and skidplate installed so I said fk it.
I just went really slow because that aluminum grinding wheel will take a lot off very quickly if you go fast. I had a shop vac sucking up most of the aluminum. I also covered the sled because I was working next to it and that aluminum dust was getting everywhere.
I stopped and lined up the bumper several times to make sure I didn't grind too much off. I stopped when the two center bolt holes still had plenty of aluminum to support the bolts and flexed the bumper into place. Most of the grinding needs to be around the end of the center support by the bolt holes, not by the bend.
The black bumper support plate inside the tub was also a tight fit with the skidplate bolts, but everything fit without modification.
It was easy, just go slow and don't grind off more than you need.

I just unwrapped my RPM skidplate . . holy suit of armor batman. Thicker than I was expecting, hard and flexible. Well, flexible if you put it on the floor and step on it. I might target rocks with this bad boy.....:juggle:
They are badass for sure!!
If I had Burandt money I would build a sled outta that stuff.
