3" track with stock belt drive?

So, lots of people ran the 3" track on the Pro Rides with the stock Quick Drive without a ton of trouble after the '13's . What is the reason for the chain case on the Axys 3"?

What if I want to put a 3" on an Axys that came with the 2.6" and the Quick Drive? What is the weak link on this?

According to Polaris engineers, the only reason they went with the chaincase on the 3" was gearing. Not room to clear the bottom gear on the quickdrive to attain the desired gearing they wanted on the 3.

I say change the drivers and throw a 3" on if you want too. I've been debating it only because of ego....I kinda want the 3 now...

I haven't committed to the Axys yet. I was planning to hold out until next year and ride my '15 this season. I just put my '15 with 221 miles on it up for sale.

I have a couple of pretty good trade in offers on it.

There are lots of in season 163's with 2.6" available, but I want the 3". I have located a black on black 3" snow check 163" Polaris won't honor the current extended warranty offer on it since it's a snow check model.

So now I'm trying to weigh the cost of just buying a in season model with the 2.6" and upgrading to the 3" track. I think it may be cheaper and easier to just pony up for the extended warranty on the snow check model.

Are you thinking that the 7 tooth 3" pitch drivers will put it in the ballpark for the right gear ratio?

IMO

.... Get what you want as a factory sled... go with the SnowCheck and buy a supplemental Warranty... you will be better off from a money, function, durability and effort standpoint... plus have the cool painted items.

There are plenty of great aftermarket warranties out there...many of them are better than the factory warranty.

Also remember unless you go to a aftermarket belt drive as well you will be making your final drive higher (numerically lower) because the 2.6 sled are 7 tooth 2.86 pitch and all the 3" tracks are 3" pitch which is a larger diameter driver. The axys qd pulleys are different ratio than the pro chassis. Just food for thought

The final drive ratio of a stock Axys QD and 7T 3" pitch drivers will be right around 2.11 or 2.12:1. Far better than the 2.50 something:1 ratio the chain cases Axys has.

Maybe i just know most recomend around 2.3 gearing. 2.10 would put alot of load on the belt with a 3" track

The stock 3" has a bulletproof driveshaft.

Cost like $40-$80 to re gear it to whatever.

Painted tunnel sheds snow very well.

Painted running boards ". "

Resale is better

Plus the 2.52 gearing on my 163x3 works very well.

Funnest sled I've touched to date.

By a large margin.

Full day of good snow.

It was -29* F at the truck.
Fluffy pow.

The stupid handgaurds are on my workbench in the package still.

Weather inversion made it around 0* at the goods.
