Well after many years of driving gas rigs, I've finally been able to make the move to a diesel! The truck used to belong to a good friend so I know for a fact it's been meticulously maintained, hasn't been beat on, and has several good upgrades on it. He recently downsized to an ecoboost and this truck was sitting on the lot just calling to me, lol. My 02 V-10 was an excellent rig, and I'm going to miss it, but after almost a week, I'm loving my decision to move to an oil burner! It's an 06 6.0 King Ranch FX4 nicely equipped. I'm not crazy about the black, but that's a minor detail on an otherwise great rig!

6.0? Hope you did your homework.

Once you tow with a diesel, you'll never want to go back!

Oh yes, I've been researching them for many many years and I'm willing to take the risk, simply because I know the history of this truck, and I've ridden in it and driven it before.

I've personally towed my trailer and one other trailer once each in the last week and I'm loving the extra power over my old rig, it just doesn't have to work nearly as hard to get up to speed or keep pulling!

Congrats on your new ride, you'll love it! Once you go diesel, you'll never want to go back especially if you have lightened your exhaust and added a tune. (lighten exhaust politically correct term for DPF delete)

Don't want to rain on your parade but do you know if your buddy who owned it previously addressed the potential issues with the 6.0? Ask him if he "bullet proofed it." If not, google the term.

Great article on the power potential of the 6.0L block http://www.powerstroke.org/forum/6-...256689-write-up-power-potential-6-0l-psd.html

Good luck and enjoy your new truck. Highway on ramps, mountain grades, and towing is where diesels truly shine.

Looks like a great truck!

I know lots of guys that have picked up 6.0 Ford's on the cheap now. With all the info out there about them once the "bullet proof stuff" is done they run forever and it sounds like you have already looked into that.

Enjoy the truck!!!

Looks like you got into a great rig. Knowing the prior history of a truck is such a good feeling. Take care of the motor. Throw a little money at it and have fun.

Congrats but as a guy that has owns over 20 Ford diesels, beating on them or being meticulously maintained has nothing to do with 6.0 breaking down. I sold all of ours, still have some 7.3's but love the 6.7. Good Luck.

Just for the hell of it I'll update... Just traded in the 6.0L on a 2012 6.7L!!!

Holy crap this thing is quiet and has a lot of toys inside it!

I enjoyed my time driving the 6.0L, but hated the constant worry given the reputation. It was a fun truck to drive though, especially when putting your foot in it!

A couple quick pics... my first short bed, not sure how I'm going to like that in the end, but it does turn tight, lol.

I've been driving a company truck all week (an '01 7.3L) so I haven't had a lot of chance to drive my new rig, but I'm slowly starting to get used to how it drives and learning all the new features I've never had before, haha.:face-icon-small-hap I still haven't had a chance to hook up my trailer to it yet, but I know I'm going to love having the backup camera help me with that one.:face-icon-small-coo

The backup cam is awesome, I run a 13 6.7 Shortbox Lariat, going to delete it once I'm out of warranty. :juggle:
