I say $200 because she used stolen money to buy the grocieries and then get change back...she must be a politician cause she steals to steal again...

Saw this on another site and it blew me away how many people gave the wrong answer.

You're not wrong about many people getting it wrong.

Combine them into one transaction and it's clearer.

She buys $70 worth of groceries, pays with $100. Gets $30 change.

Then steals her $100 bill back.

I have no idea how political correctness factors in?

$100 is it. He made money on the goods. 70 didn't cost him 70. You write the 100 off and start over. She paid for the groceries. She stole the $100 not the groceries.
