It's been done many many times.
you just bend the end of the bar return up so it goes into the bars properly.
I've done it to every sled I've had since my 07's. Went riding with VOHK one day & say the acerbis guards on his sled, and he explained why he did it.
this was before I had them finished, needed a touch more bend to get it right.
On stock bars I add a spacer to push the center mounts forward a bit (away from the bars more) so they don't hit the brake or throttle, it's just a piece they send you that you don't use otherwise. It'll take you a few extra minutes to get the bend right & figure out which pieces to use for spacer, but it's not too tough. I've had to do that on all the stock bars I've done, but not on my pro tapers for some reason.
We run Cycra guards, they're the only ones I've found that actually protect from wind in the bark buster style guards. I've run acerbis, and a couple others, but once a buddy of mine put these on his poo I was sold. They work great!
