Stock 2010 M8 and I am seeing around 8030 to 8050. Seems like I read I need to be closer to 8200. Can anyone tell me where it runs the strongest?

Thanks!

If your primary spring is stock, try to get a spring that has a finishing rate around 340. I think stock is 285#. Make sure to check your belt deflection. Most common loss of rpm as belts break and wear in.

My finish is 305 but I have a 335 finish in the parts box. I will check deflection also.

Rob, what spring are you running?

I'm trying an slp green/pink this year with my setup. I ran a speedwerx h5 alloy last year that was about the same as slp blue/pink. Easy fix compared to new weights or grinding current weights to gain 100 or so rpm.

If your deflection is right, that 335# should put you right were you want to be. Dropping weight is the last thing I try to do.

I'd stay below 8100. 8050 sounds right on. I've seen a lot of dyno's on this motor and sometimes it makes power at 8200 but for the most part, peak hp is 7900-8100 and hp falls at 8150. I highly recommend the cutler gold/white. It has a 305 finish rate. This spring has less coils than any other spring and allow the clutch to fully engage without spring bind allowing a full shift. To perfect your rev, adjust weight or secondary spring.

Currently running the Cutler gold/white. I have only ridden it once so I will leave it for now and see how it goes and throw in the higher finish spring later if I am falling off with rpm.

On my '10 M8 162", I ran stock set up for both the springs and when the dealer told me everyone around here was dropping a bit of weight from the primary I added!! I pulled 8100 bang on all day long and it didn't seem to matter what the conditions were. Just wish Cat would have come up with a better solution as to why the primary keeps breaking springs.
