'92 Exciter brake adj.?

Just got done putting a 136" on my exciter. Put new brake pads in it, and now theyre too tight on the caliper (which has a "automatic adjust" sticker on it). Do you have to compress the piston as you would in a car? Any help would be great! Thanks in advance.

brake

pull the calipper off turn out the self adjuster untill you have enough clearance to slide back over the rotor. then put it back on and pump the brake all the way to the handlebar. that triggers the self adjuster, do it untill it firms up it should almost reach the handlebar when it is adlusted
