02 polaris carb slide broke off

I have a 02 polaris 800 that pto side carb slide broke the bottom ears on the intake side of the slide off and the motor went lean and burnt down has any one ever seen these brake off ..

Hes The carb slides that came in most 800xcr tripples had the problem wheer they would do that, they would get loose and rattle and then the corners would crack the problem sides were green and the updated ones had a black coating on them, Triumphs and some of the cat tripples had this problem also.

What color is the coating on your slides?

This is dangerous because it can damage the motor by going lean OR just the small peice digging a grove in the cylinder, if there is alot of wear replace both slides.

You probably have the green slides. These are a zinc material that will sometimes break. The triples had the green slides and the twins since 2000 had the black slides. The replacement ones are the black coated aluminum slides. They are lighter and really should have the throttle return spring replaced at the same time to make sure the slides return properly. Also check the guides/tracks in the carbs to make sure there isn't excessive wear that allows the slides to bounce around. If the carb body (bodies) is/are worn, it may be time to replace the carb set.
