I just picked up 2 ZX 700 Summits in mint condition for a "steal".

I'm hoping that some of you can take minute or two to chime in on clutch setups.

They are both box stock.
1) 2003 700 Summit 151 (non X)
2) 2003 700 Summit 144 (non X)

What do you guys recommend for clutching and gearing

- Primary pin weight
- Primary spring
- Primary Ramp

- Secondary Spring
- Helix

- Gearing? (what is stock... what do you recommend)

Thanks in advance for your time!!:face-icon-small-ton

I never found much gains back then vs the stock setup....depending on how they will be used, for the hills maybe drop a tooth on top gear, go to a 160/320 primary spring, as much pin weight as needed to run #3-4 and maybe a little shallower helix if it's strictly mountains....for a mix of riding, stock is decent.

THIS - even BJ told me the most they really need is maybe a stiffer secondary spring (for better backshift) as BRP had them dialed by their last season (2003). I left mine stock (2003 700 X) and it pulled rpm's in all conditions. Gearing for the 144 is 21/45 and I checked shiftout in DEEP conditions and she was still shifting all the way out so no need to change that either. Good reliable sleds but don't take the bumps real well; sold mine last year when I got my Pro.

Have FUN!

What do you guys recommend for clutching and gearing

- Primary pin weight (16g in clicker 3 to 8'K, 15g @ 8'K+)
- Primary spring (160/350)
- Primary Ramp (If RER then 300, clicker 3)

- Secondary Spring (stock original purple 225/300)
- Helix (SMT)

- Gearing? (what is stock... (21:43)

what do you recommend) gearing into the basement (21:47 @ 76P chain)
With that 2" track and this calibration will be 3~4mph track speed over stock and won't drift low rpms if you have to chop the throttle in the middle of a pull, it will recover rpms and just keep on truckin.
It'll help that 144 eat the 151's lunch.
