Just thought I would put up a little report on Mirror lake for anyone considering riding.

Went out yesterday (3/31) afternoon for a little rip. You can drive to mile marker 20 right now, its plowed but snowpacked for about 3 of 7 miles past the gate. no problem for any truck, its only a few inches of snow.

Riding from the gate there is not much snow till about Trail Lake. After that till the summit is ok off trail, but its super weird snow, its really rotten in the bottom 2/3rds of snowpack, and ok corn on top. You will be sidehilling along and all the sudden the front end of your sled will punch through to the lower rotten snow and you will plug pretty bad....

still ok to get out for a rip! snow is about 3 feet deep up top... with a few more warm days we could be riding dirt bikes up there!

Rode up there this weekend. Gate was open and plowed until about mile 20. Road was good with just a few bare spots above that, but you can tell that its melting fast. Forest Service Ranger said they may plow it higher this week - maybe to Provo Falls. We did some touring from there, past Mirror Lake and scouting areas for next year. We did find a couple pockets of deep, sugary snow, but the rocks aren't far below, so we took it pretty easy. Was good to be out in any case.
