How does the 850 adjust fuel with a pipe?

What happens when you add a pipe? Does the exhaust sensor detect the added heat & add fuel, retard timing or is the sled rich from the factory & just runs leaner until it hits a fail safe point? Is there more gains by adding fuel? Is additional fuel needed?

I read through the service manual, but there was no explanation of how the system works. I'm going to order the racing handbook. My sled is a 2019. Will the 2020 racing handbook have more info on my 2019 sled than the 2019 handbook? I kind of remember it being that way in the past.

I've read both the 2019 service manual & racing handbook. No information on how the system works, just troubleshooting & replacement procedures.
