Just a reminder to everyone that reads forums...

90% of the people that post on forums that aren't asking for help are bitching, crying, whining, and/or complaining about something. It blows my mind how many people on the mountain are asking me when they see I have Gen 4's if I blowing belts or my clutches are melting off. A few people have posted about issues they personally have had and all of the sudden it's an epidemic. There are thousands of these sleds on the snow now and just a few bad apples. Big deal. I do next to no maintenance on my sleds. Didn't make love to clutches or French kiss my belts or caressed my sheaves before I went and rode my sleds. I have got about 500 miles between to two and absolutely have hammered on them. If you don't believe me ask the people that have ridden with me. The only thing you could classify as a problem was the exhaust probes managed to back themselves out. Big deal. These sleds really rip. The only thing Ski Doo messed up on was not getting them out sooner to demo. I know a lot of people probably would have bought a 154 instead of a 165 if they had had a chance to ride one. I'm lucky enough to have both.

I agree on buying the 154 instead of the 165. My buddies convinced me the 165 would be better. I really wished I would have got the 154.

Is there a big difference? I got my wife a 165, which is a no brainer for her. I have 155 t-axys. On the axys, to me, it is a big difference between a 155 and 163. Just curious on the 850. My buddy has one but haven't got to go with him yet.

The 165 is just slower turning and not as active as the xm 154 I rode last year. The G4 165 takes less effort to ride but it reacts slower.

The 165 is just slower turning and not as active as the xm 154 I rode last year. The G4 165 takes less effort to ride but it reacts slower.

On the axys the 163 is just heavier handling besides a hair more real estate to turn out. The fun factor isn't there when compared with my 155. Just wondering If it is the same with the 154 850.

The 154 can be thrown around a lot easier than the 165. Definitely wheelies a lot easier. Closes thing to a turbo I have ever rode. Plus I think it climbs just as well as a 163 T3 so I think had people got to ride it that is the route they would have went... The only demos I heard of were 165s.

Well said! The haters in our crowd did the same with the AXYS when it proved to be a very problem free first year sled that most of us who own one absolutely love the sled. I could tell by the small number of posts about Gen 4 problems that they are doing well so far.

I ordered a 165, always came from 154's. the sled being physically less than 6" longer, is that that much of a difference? really? Is the 165 that much more of a dog????

I wouldn't say a dog. The 165 rips but even I am amazed at the difference between the 2. I would have thought that 5" wouldn't make that much of a difference either. However, the 154 is a lot easier to throw around. Definitely more playful of a sled.

This was the exact same issue with the XP's when they came out. Almost 10 yrs and thousands of shim kits later, I am still selling 10-15 kits a week. Anyone that says the XP didn't blow belts is in denial. I hope Gen 4's don't blow belts.... but then again I wouldn't mind another 10 yrs of good sales. Thank you Ski-Doo.

And if I could add to this. Isn't it funny now ski doo is sup pose to be the super star your all butt hurt because their issues are being talked about and hammered on.
But it was okay to do it when polaris had a few issues, by God you nit picked then didn't you. Pull your big girl panties on and get on with life. Any of the issues with polaris, cat, or doo are solvable get on the damn thing and ride it. I for one am tired of hearing who thinks their pecker is bigger.

I'm not butthurt at all. I could careless what brand people ride or what they think is the best. I'm just letting the people that think the sled has serious problems know it's just really a few people. I didn't ride back then so I don't know anything about the XP. However the few years I have snowmobiled I have seen some major problems with other manufacturers that I actually did see week in and week out on the mountain. This is not the case with the G 4

There was reportly 7500 units manufacturered, and we are hearing about a handful having belt issues, 2 seizing up, some having coolant bottle problems, and 3 breaking off scratcher holders...

...by and by, this is a MUCH more successful launch than the 08 XP! I say kuddos to Doo, and a middle finger to those naysayers that are claiming the sky is fallin!
