I'm probably going to be in the market for a new sled for next year and I'm wondering about an M. I've heard that they're not built strong enough for a big guy like myself (6'3"-285). Just wondering if any of my fellow XXL snowesters have a significant amount of seat time on an M-Series.

WEll I think the M-Series will fit you just fine with a couple of mods. I am 6' 245 lbs and I love mine. O I would not advise you to get a M6:) Go with the 1000 they are made just for guys like you!! Good luck in your quest!

t bone I have a guy thats 6'8" 370 pounds on a thousand and he has no problems at all, he says the sled is so natural it makes him look like Chris Burant when he rides!!LOL!!!!!!!!!!

M7

I am 265 and my M7 has been terrific. This is my 4th season on it and I do have a couple of recommendations for what it is worth. 1. I wish the m8 had been available when I bought my 7. My buddy has a 8 and that little bit of extra power is totally worth it! 2. Get the 162 track. If you ride pow at all you will love the extra track length (not cumbersome at all). 3. mods on my 7 were more of a pain than they were worth. I ultimately changed my sled back to stock and am glad I did (removed twins and took off fuel box). PS: no disrespect to the guys that have modded and had good luck I just had a hard time tuning. good luck!

As far as layout of the machine, one of my friends is 6'-6" and he liked how the M7 fit him, except wanted more handlebar rise. At 6' even, the bars are fine for me, sled's easy to pull onto it's side.
Running boards will suffer under your weight. Planning on beefing up the ones on my wife's sled, cause I bent 'em pretty good in 1 hard day of riding. Replaced the edges, and they've held straight for her for 2 seasons, and I haven't taken any big jumps w/ it since replacing them.

I can't imagine a rev or dragon would hold up better, and a yammie would need a bunch more $$$ to get you where you need to go.

M1000 would be the best big guy sled I can think of.

I'm 6' and close to 300 lbs fully dressed. Been on mine for 3 years w/ no problems. Did install a set of better boards, which seemed to help w/ the flexing of the stock boards. I like the way the chassis responds to just a small amount of input from the rider.

I'm on a 2005 M7 I have no problems with its durability. I couple things I would recommend. If you get a 2005 or 2006 and put on a HRP relocation bracket get custom valveing for you shocks it helps a ton. Also my boards had a little sag in them so I installed snow eliminators on them and they are way stiffer and my favorite mod to date (If you buy a 2005-2007 M)

6'1" 270 lbs in full gear riding a 2005 m sled (before they beefed them up and added weight) and haven't had a bit of problems.

I'm not a clydesdale , but am a Big Dog,6-6 280. I have a 08 m1000 snopro its a fun sled for a big guy, if you can keep it running, I'm having some issues keeping it runnning, really not sure what's causing it to just quit? . Overall I'm happy with it just the factor that I'm riding Paronoid in Big Country not knowing what will it do next?. Frustrated Red Dog.

Go for it!

I am 6'4" & 240 lbs.
I ride both my M7 & M1000 with no issues, get a 3" bar riser minimum.
As you can see from the avatar, the M1000 has no issues getting it on.

if you buy an 05-06 m series you might want to look at reinforcing the tunnel as it tends to bend up towards the front. we did it on my cousins m7 after he bent it the first time. get some sheet aluminum and make a cardboard template which is a copy of the side of the tunnel. trace it onto the aluminum and use a jig saw to cut it out then rivet it onto the tunnel. it realy helps alot with the big guys who like to jump and play as well as for when your carrying gas. we do this to all of our sleds now due to the amount of bent tunnels. doesnt sound like much but it helps a ton!

bar risers will be a must. and a boss seat would realy help get you where your comfortable

I am 6' 4" and about 250 and I had a 06 m7 and I loved it . I never had any problems with it and I rode it very hard the only problrm I had was that in deep snow or on long hill climbs it would run a little short on power. I now have a 08 m8 with 600 miles and have not touched it yet either. The 8 handles my weight alot better then the 7 did but I wish I would have gone with the 1000. Go 162 and 4 inch riser, I went 153 and 2 inch riser which wasnt enough.
