Jim didn't know who Ford was...just thought he was a fan. I don't think Jim even knew it had happened until the picture was posted on the net for all to see.

Ford then failed to use the shirt at a Nascar race as was promised...loser. :face-icon-small-ton

I remember that pic but never knew the back story - was there some kind of feud? Someone give us the 411.

Long story...

Fordy bet Jim $1000 that he (Fordy) could out jump a rider who rides for Team Thunderstruck on a ramp in a lake during the water cross races in West Central Washington.
The guy's name was Shane or Shaun or...something similar. He had jumped there the year prior and shattered the world record for a jump with a snowmobile on water.
It was all set up.
They would meet at the event and go at it in a grudge match for the thousand dollars.

Big Jim accepted the bet (thinking Shawn or Shane would be there again)
Well, there was a lot of trash talking going back and forth in the months leading up to it and by the time it was supposed to take place they pretty much lost any semblance of respect and common decency toward each other.

Then Jim announced that his rider would not be attending the water cross and neither was team Thunderstink...Something to do with money owed to the polar bear snowmobile club for filming their event without permission and subsequent video sales that ended up making Jim less than welcome that year. (something like that)

Fordy cried foul and insisted that he had won by default and that Jim owed him the $1000. Most everybody who had been following the thread like a crazed school of great whites in the middle of a bloody feeding frenzy agreed.

Jim refused and was made to look like a...Well....Punk.

In order to help Jim save face Fordy offered to forgo his winnings and suggested that Jim just donate the $1000 to SAWS which Jim also declined to do.
Now this was war....

Planning was involved with a high level of secrecy.
A plot was hatched.
A shirt was printed...

Later that month, at the Puyallup Washington Snow Show a promise to Big Jim of a video sale came with an agreement to pose for a picture with Fordy.
Three, Two, and on one....
The coat was pulled back, Jim flashed some half azzed, hungover "Rocker" gang sign and the rest is a classic moment captured in time for all future generations of SnoWest forum members to see.

This picture will never go away so the story MUST be told!
