Island Park Snow Conditions for 22-23 season.

Looks like we have picked up 4" so far today, and lots more coming!
Its SOOOOO NICE to see this forcast holding together.
And as always, this is for the VALLEY, not the mountains where ride.
Almost always get MORE up top...;)

Black Bear in MT is the sensor to keep your eye on.
Thats the one I have found gives me the best overall sense of what I will find up high.

Right now there is a pretty solid base formed up, but we need the winter snow to start building up on it.

the 10 day forecast is still looking good, and these projections are for the VALLEY FLOOR, not the high mountains.
We always get more up at 8,000ft.

I have been watching Black Bear like a hawk lol! Do you actually ride out in that area at all or just use it as a reference?

In an all too RARE turn of events, the forecast got BETTER overnight!
More Snow on Weds and Thurs.
Friday and Saturday should be great riding if you don't mind some wind

, except 12 to 26 inches on ridge tops and elevations

* WHERE...Centennial Mountains - Island Park- Including the cities
of Island Park and Kilgore.

* WHEN...From 5 PM Wednesday to 5 PM MST Friday.

* IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult to impossible. The
hazardous conditions could impact the morning and evening
commutes Wednesday afternoon through Friday.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Wind gusts in excess of 30 MPH near
mountain highway passes as well as peaks and ridgelines may also
result in areas of blowing and drifting snow and dangerous
conditions in the backcountry.

A winter storm is bearing down on southern Idaho by tonight, with snow in the central Idaho mountains and upper Snake River highlands developing during the overnight hours, in the rest of eastern Idaho highlands during the day Thursday, and in the Snake River plain by Thursday evening. The snow will end from west to east starting early Friday morning. Here is the latest forecasted snowfall amounts broken into two periods, and the maximum gusts expected each day. Winter Storm Warnings, Watches, and Winter Weather Advisories are in effect already
