Its time for the FIRST SNOW REPORT of the season.

Black Bear (347)
Montana SNOTEL Site - 8170 ft

We are a long ways away from being rideable yet, BUT, mother nature is trying her best to get a little of that base laid down for us.

Yup
Those are pics of Two Tops.
When we got there on saturday, the mountain had NO tracks on it.
Snow was around 30", and we felt NO ROCKS beneath the skies at all.

Hey everyone!

We are looking to take a trip to island park the 2nd to the 8th of December and I was hoping y’all might be able to tell me where I’m most likely to find the best snow in the area in the earlier part of the season. Seen a lot on Two Tops and Lions in my reading. However, really enjoy the trees and hillsides the most! I know they have not seen a lot of snow out there yet but…the deeper the better obviously.

I check Snotel all the time but just don’t know if the beacons are in the best riding spots??

Any help you guys can provide would be great. I’m usually the only guy in my group on a sled and my buddies are all on snow bikes. So we like it a little more technical…

Black Bear in MT is the sensor to keep your eye on.
Thats the one I have found gives me the best overall sense of what I will find up high.

Right now there is a pretty solid base formed up, but we need the winter snow to start building up on it.

the 10 day forecast is still looking good, and these projections are for the VALLEY FLOOR, not the high mountains.
We always get more up at 8,000ft.

Updated forecast is looking even better.

BE PREPARED for a possible REPEAT of last year.
Early amazing snow followed by much less.
I strongly suggest that when the snow hits you do NOT delay taking advantage of it hoping for More/Better to come...

Looks like we have picked up 4" so far today, and lots more coming!
Its SOOOOO NICE to see this forcast holding together.
And as always, this is for the VALLEY, not the mountains where ride.
Almost always get MORE up top...;)
